Great Visits! 8/3/2011

This is a really wonderful clinic. The staff is extremely friendly, and welcoming. I have gone to this clinic for quite some time and I have had consistently great visits. Your pets will love it!! more

A Good Vet At Last! 7/21/2011

I was fed up with the service from my regular vet, so I decided to come here and give it a try. Oh my!!!! This was the first vet's office Buddy has never barked her head off. He walked through the door calm and quiet. The waiting area is a bit small but very clean and nice. I didn't have to wait long to see the vet. I just filled out the information for a new client/patient and they were ready. Dr. Kennedy came into the examination room with a smile and ready to shake my hand and take care of my boy. You'd think by 6pm, the woman would be tired and would want to go home. Nope! She was extremely professional and helpful and gave me great advice. The staff is very nice and polite. I'm just so happy to have found a good vet at last!! more

This place rocks. 7/12/2011

This place rocks. They have always taken exceptional care of my dog and have shown an amazing passion and caring. Dr. Kennedy came in on her DAY OFF to check on my dog and give me a call with an update. The surgeon who worked on my poor girl had been practicing since 1966 and had worked on lions and similarly sized animals. Good luck finding a better place in some old converted shoe store. more

I was very pleased with my overall experience. 7/12/2011

I was very pleased with my overall experience. The place was very clean and modern, so I didn't have any qualms about potentially exposing my puppy to bacteria and germs. Lastly, VCA is open 24 hrs. more

The vet had this great attitude. 7/11/2011

I went here for a free exam before I get my little Ewok (Shih Tzu/Lab mix) fixed. Surprisingly, the day I went the lobby was quite empty. My dog got called in after 30 minutes and was thoroughly examined. He was a bit testy with his ears though, and the vet had this great attitude. more

Caring and attentive staff. 7/7/2011

Caring and attentive staff. Our dog had a large lump that suddenly appeared on his neck. From the receptionists to Dr Hargenrater who treated our dog the entire staff were all friendly, courteous and showed great care when looking after us. I was most impressed when Dr Morein, the medical director, took the time to call me twice over the past two days to check on the condition of Jacques and to give me his lab results. I would definitely recommend this facility to anyone who has a need for any emergency veterinary care. more

NO BETTER PLACE 6/28/2011

The great staff took such good care of my dog when we brought him to the emergency room after a bad fall. He ended up having to have surgery to repair a fracture he had between his elbow and shoulder. Dr. Marchan and all the lovely staff were so helpful and caring. Dr. Marchan called us a few times a day to let us know how our dog was doing. We were also able to visit Rocky anytime we wanted to. Thank you VCA Lakewood Animal Hospital. more

NO BETTER PLACE! 6/27/2011

I can not imagine taking my four cocker spaniels anywhere else. Dr. Morein was our vet for 30 years, and even now that he is the Medical Director at the new beautiful hospital he is there for us if and when we need him. The entire staff have been nothing but great and kind to us, Dr. Marchan is now who we see and he is just as great as Morein. I not only trust him with my Fur-kids I would trust them with my life! more

I recommend this place to everyone. 6/22/2011

They saved my baby when she acquired "parvo" while getting spayed by a crappy vet. No doubt she would have died but they saved her. It was costly but it didn't matter I wasn't letting her die. And she lived 11 more years after that so it was worth it. The staff was always so nice, I cant tell u how many times I've been there to see people putting down their beloved pets and they are so understanding. They are open 24 hours for emergency care in case u need it so I recommend this place to everyone. more

This place is amazing. 6/17/2011

This place is amazing. It's clean and although it's a little pricey, it's so worth it. My dog is about 9 weeks old and she was in great care when she came for her vaccinations. For about $160 she got the puppy plan. All vaccinations, some flea preventatives, food, etc. It was great. Our vet was really nice, and the staff was helpful. Go early! We made an appointment for 9 am, didn't leave til a little after 10, and by the time we were done, the waiting room was packed. My puppy goes back in a week, and I will for sure come early. more

Five Star - 6/20/2010

Excellent care. Access to top specialists through VCA if necessary. Very caring employees - front and back office alike. Very busy but that is because they offer good service. Besides access to top specialists, the fact that a number of veterinarians work under the same roof offers each of them access to each other's extra knowledge and specialities. Our dogs are happy there - Through several emergencies over the years we remain firm believers in the Lakewood Animal Hospital - and our dogs are our family in every way. more

all the want is your money 2/26/2010

wost service ever. i walked in on wenesday nit=ght with my dog he was brealy breathing and couldnt move he was really bad. they guy tookk him and instead of takin him to the back to start medication or something he spent more then 5min. askin me questions. they told me they needed to do so many exams because they wanted to know what was the cause of my dog problem, they did so many exams that they still didnt know what was wrong with him. and when i went ot go visit him since he stayed over nite he had blood on his noise those people dont care about your animal but about your money. they are selfish and if you love your animal dont ever take them there worst service ever and i have my dog back home since i picked him up last nite and he is sick again and im not taking him there and never will i recomend a person to take there dog there. wosrt service in the world not a good place to take your dog they do so many exams on your pet to just make money more

Mrs. Lovell 2/17/2010

This is my idea of a place to take my pet. There is a nice reception from the door and NO SMELLS, I hate that. The Desk is friendly and there are plenty of chairs for you to choose from to sit with your pet. I loved my first visit with boo boo kitty. Tomorrow I take the dogs. Early in the morning before my coffee because they have that too! Greatest news is that they are a 24 hour hospital too. 5 stars for sh. more

EMERGENCY NIGHTMARE 3/31/2009

I have two beautiful baby doggies who have alway gotten along. Tyson, my older one, is twice the size of Chanel, my puppy of 10 months. Chanel is not yet spayed so she tends to get possesive of toys, food, etc. On March 25th of 2009, she snapped at Tyson over a toy, and she came out with terrible wounds. Tyson looked untouched, but poor Chanel had at least 3 major gashes, and I had 4 dog bites on my arm (I tried to be a hero in breaking up their fight; not a good idea if you value your own life more than your dog's) and I still had to rush her to the hospital. I chose to take her first, she was crying and obviously in pain and i couldnt bare to see like that. The VCA was the firsat hospital we chose to go to since it was down the street from my house, and because they have a huge sign that reads 24 HOUR EMERGENCY. I was obviously in a rush and forgot my purse (I.D., money, etc.) When we got inside there were 4 people working behind the counter and the one who helped me must have been t more

Well, I've been fortunate enough not to have experienced the emergency portion of the hospital, but when I take my dog in, I've had very good experiences. I've been going to VCA Lakewood for 8 years. more

Extremely poor after hours Veterinarian service 12/19/2008

My german shepherd was post operative from intestinal blockage major surgery performed elsewhere. She had complications from the surgery and fluid was located in her chest cavity. She also had severe upper respiratory congestion. When she was stable enough, I brought her home. Early in the morning on the third day home (4am), my shepherd was experiencing very noisy breathing and acted very anxious. It appeared her airway was compromised and possibly a critical situation. I took her to Lakewood VCA. After waiting for the desk person to teach someone to enter her information into the computer (approx. 15-20 minutes), I was eventually placed into an examination room, where I waited another 20+ minutes until the technician came back in and said they were trying to wake up the doctor. I communicated my disgust and dissatisfaction of the unnecessary wait (I was the only person in the hospital besides the workers). I then waited another 10 minutes and the doctor still did not show.I left the more

STAY AWAY!!! 10/14/2008

STAY AWAY!!!! ALL THEY CARE ABOUT IS MONEY. They had my kitten listed as my dog in their records. They said they did a fecal test but cannot provide the paperwork. The girls up front all have attitude and do not care if your animal gets looked at or not. more

Very disappointing 9/15/2008

This place saddened me. I brought my late 13 year old dog here for an infection. During the course of 2 visits, I paid over 600 dollars, but did not receive any real care (it would've been more, but the doctor said he'd give me a discount). I was also upset because they charged 200 for an analysis half of which was a urine test, but then failed to do the urine test, but lied to my face about it. The doctor told me, ""The test was fine, nothing out of the ordinary,"" but then could not produce the actual paper with the test results. I have other gripes, but I'll stop here. Final statement: I will never go here again. Cons: expensive, opportunistic, doctor lied more

Unbelievable poor treatment for dog 8/6/2008

The following is from a letter I have sent to the VCA Lakewood Aminal Hospital.\r \r On Friday June 6th at approximately 2:30 am I brought my 6 year old West Highland Terrier into your emergency animal hospital. She had been bleeding from a cut or bite on her tongue since 9:00pm that evening, June 5th. At the time I brought her tongue was a pale pink and her body had begun somewhat shacking and convulsing as well. I signed the release papers supplied to me by the technician and gave him a run down of her activities that day which included a ?gentle dental? at our Veterinarian, Belmont Shore Animal Hospital. The technician took her from me to a room in the back, escorted me to another room and told me he would go upstairs to get the veterinarian on duty. About 5 minutes later he returned and handed my dog, Sophie, to me telling me that it appeared the bleeding was stopping and to give her ice water to drink. I was surprised that the vet had not come in to talk with me. The tech more
