I knew they are high priced but I figured you get what you pay for right? WRONG! Read this before bringing your pet there for a major medical. I've had our English Bulldog for over 10 years and I experienced their lack of expertise for the second time last month. Our bully hadn’t ate for 2 days and was panting heavily plus crying out loud in spells. VCA did stabilize her but then made the assumption that SHE HAS A BRAIN TUMOR. I was told 3 options. Put her down, give her 24 hrs to see if it gets better, after which she will be on a “slim day-to-day basis to live” or bring her to C$U for a CT scan. We seriously contemplated putting her down! It was too much to handle that day so we gave her 24hrs. We transporting her to an overnight care facility where they gave her an overall exam. The vet there called us and said our dog has a serious tooth infection! Now THOUSANDS of dollars later an x-ray shows the jaw bone was also infected and deteriorating. No wonder she was crying out loud, she was in pain not a seizure. Four teeth where pulled and now she’s back to her old self. Right away Dr. Arthur @ VCA called me after learning of my distress with them, told me she would look into it and call me back. I’m still waiting for that phone call. Another experienced I has was when our 2yr old bully started vomiting daily. We brought her to VCA where they recommended x-rays plus blood and urine tests. Hundreds of dollars later they still had no diagnosis so they asked some basic questions. ""Did you change her diet?"" Come to think of it we just took her off puppy chow. After putting her back on the chow she stopped the daily vomiting. Shouldn’t that have been asked before the tests? I thought that was a secluded event but no. more

My cat was sick and my regular vet suggested I go to VCA. It is very clinical and cold. They told me it would cost more than $2000 to run tests on him and then no gurantees. Since I couldn't afford that and I didn't want him to suffer, I had him put to sleep. I wish I had waited now. Then on top of that they charged a lot for the euthanasia. more

I have three dogs and I take them all to VCA of Fort Collins. The staff have all been so kind and helpful to us and our pets. They know me and my pets by name and they continue to surprise me with their knowledge on the welfare of my animals. They are a little bit more expensive then some vets but they offer top notch care, in fact I email my vet back and forth with questions all the time and she is happy to assist even after they have closed. I appreciate VCA fort collins so much...and my pets do too! I personally recommend Dr. Long, she is wonderful! more

Never again! 11/17/2009

We will never take our pets back to VCA Fort Collins Animal Hospital. We almost decided to put our beloved family pet to sleep, because of the expense of treating her problem. She has reoccurring ear infections, and we would be in the clinic somtimes as much as once a week, and they would charge us top notch for the same problem never finding a cure just maintaining the problem. We found a new veterinarian that has been great at helping us maintain her problem, and we have been able to maintain everything without even considering giving her up. We are all very happy with our decision to stay away from VCA, and our dog has done much better since? more

Made a hard situation worse 6/9/2009

Our 6 year old boxer had a fatal spine disease and our normal vet had diagnosed it and basically it was a waiting game. So over the weekend Duece went downhill and could not get up or move, so knowing the end was coming I called our normal vet and he couldn't get us in until the next day-I didn't want Deuce to suffer so I setup an app. to have him put down. We brought him in-and instead of doing what we asked we were made to feel guilty and they talked us into leaving him for further testing. We were told that they would contact us shortly about what the best way to go was. We talked to our normal vet again and he had an opening so we went to get Deuce to take him there. When we got there we were attacked with questions of why we were taking him and what we were doing. Then we found out the Vet had left already. So obviously she planned on keeping him overnight. Never take your beloved pet here more

vet clinic 10/17/2008

Very good vet clinic. I take my dogs there for OFA and CERF testing. Dr. Heather is a top notch vet. I do not like that they went to VCA. Which tries to sell you a lot of extras. I have used them for c sections also.I would recommend this vet. more
