Who cares about who owns the clinic? As for your Pomeranian, perhaps the surgery was scheduled for the afternoon, which certainly would have left your dog "out of it", as you say. Surgery is a serious thing, and any reasonable person would expect his dog to experience some sort of side effects from it. It seems clear to me that your major concern was the extra money you paid for the "emergency vet". You didn't mention what the emergency vet diagnosed - perhaps an over-reaction on your part? And, no, I don't ever recall having been delayed a hostpital discharge by a coherency test or missing bowel movement. In case you haven't noticed, University Hospitals and Cleveland Clinic don't accept dogs as patients. I suppose that would fly in the face of your "what makes an animal any different" reasoning. Yes, veterinarians are different from people doctors. Hello!!! Most vets don't offer overnight emergency care - if you want that, then go to a Specialty clinic. Your choice. B
