Best

VCA is the ONLY animal hospital that I know of who calls you the next day to check up on your pet. The staff is so knowledgeable and welcoming. The most surprising is the animals ...

Worst

We are the owners of three dogs...and that can be expensive. We have a special needs bull terrier who was diagnosed as being incontinent by Dr. Jen at the Bolingbrook facility. ...

Terrible vet and expensive 4/2/2007

I brought my 14 year old dog to see Dr. Sam after she started favoring her hind leg. He examined her and recommended surgery to repair a damaged acl joint. This was going to cost in excess of $2,000 but he urged me to do it as he said it would improve her quality of life. I said no, but it still cost me over a hundred and fifty dollars to walk out the door, after office visit and meds which they never even asked if I wanted. (Had they given me a prescription to have filled at the pharmacy, it would have cost less than half of what they charged me, I found out later). I took ,my dog to another vet for a second opinion and he said no way would he recommend this operation as he wouldn't want to induce that much trauma to a dog her age. He told me that the acl would get better, but her rabbit hunting days were over. Well now less than a year later, at 15 years old, my beagle is happier and healthier than ever. We go on 2 mile walks in the woods all the time and she still chases rab more

Small but efficient 7/22/2006

We took our beagles to be boarded a month ago and the experience was fantastic. We were able to tour the facility, see the run area and the cages the dogs stayed in. The ladies at the front desk were friendly and had dogs with them that were attending "doggie daycare". We are planning on taking our dogs back whenever needed. PROS: Friendly willing to answer questions CONS: Parking more

The WORST place in the world 3/29/2006

I wouldn't send my worst enemy's pet there. They are absolutely horrible and expensive too. I don't know where they get their vets but they must have graduated at the bottom of their class. DO NOT USE THEM! more

Visit this vet if you want your pets to DIE!!! 3/24/2006

Here is the story, I'm an owner of a 2 year old persian cat-my cat went into labor and was having dificulty delivering her kittens. We rushed her to the Vca Animal Hospital, and the staff was very unfriendly from the start. Asside from that, the vet did a c-section on my cat.... I was okay with that...They took three kittens out of her, one they said was dead at birth, The second kitten was said to have died shortly after they began tube feeding it. But the third kitten was strong and doing well. When they called the house and said my cat was ready to be picked up they asked me if I wanted to pick up the kitten also or have a staff member take it home and tube feed it. I was a little confused on why they would be tube feeding it in the first place so I asked the receptionist not to let anyone take the kitten home, and that I would think about it and call her right back. When I called back and said I would pick up the kitten also, she had told me that the Office manager had already more

Never again 1/22/2006

We took our 11 l/2 year old golden retriever and saw Dr. Sam, not only was he unfriendly, but his "bed side manner" was just awful. Never again!!!!! PROS: It was close to our home CONS: Unfriendly, uncaring and not very clean. more

RIP OFF 10/27/2005

We are the owners of three dogs...and that can be expensive. We have a special needs bull terrier who was diagnosed as being incontinent by Dr. Jen at the Bolingbrook facility. Our dog was on a medication for 2 years that she shouldn't have been on. Suddenly, she started peeing blood and we spent $1000 on several visits to diagnose her with bladder stones. Bolingbrook recommended we visit their specialty clinic in Berwyn. The doctor there told me the surgery would be over $3000!!! I was devastated. I love my dog, but $3000 is a LOT of money. I made a few phone calls, was told that a simple X-ray of the dog should have been the first cause of action and I found a vet that did the EXACT same surgery for $900. VCA can kiss my butt! And my dog's butt, too! PROS: Location is good. CONS: Prices are ridiculous. It's $35 just to walk in the door! more
