Utopia Bakery Cafe

the bride & Groom came up to put money down on a wedding cake 09-25-09. When we called to confirm and do a cake testing, we were told they were under new ownership and they WOULD NOT honor the prior owners contracts. They CAN NOT do the cake as agreed to and REFUSE to refund the deposit of $300.00, They told us "I can give you the prior owners phone number, but he moved to Canada so GOOD LUCK". and hung up on us. I am SHOCKED that a new owner would not want to do EVERYTHING to bring in business, not throw it away. We will be pursuing legal options and letting the world know of our dissappointment, frustration and anger over this. Not how you would expect a local bakery to act. I seriously believe they will lose more than $300,00 in future business from negative feedback. Mother of the Groom!!! more

I am not too impressed with Utopia Bakery. This bakery is promoted as being a really upscale, fancy bakery. Their prices reflect that image, but the baked goods do not. I went in with my wife and son and there was not one thing that looked good in the case. Everything looked really dry and unappealing. The other thing is their wedding cakes. They are really touted as being great, but when my wife and I shopped for wedding cakes, it was ridiculous. They wanted $5 per slice of wedding cake! The cakes weren't even impressive and did not seem worth that price at all (Think $750 for a cake to feed 150 guests). more
