A previous visit to this office resulted in a somewhat 'lite' response involving an IRS issue. Although i did get an acknowledgement letter in the end, i never got a phone call or otherwise knew who the issue was assigned to in Dallas office. Apparently Dallas is where the case workers are located and the branch offices simply pass constituent issues and concerns to that office. It's a good thing I was also seeking assistance from my representative at the same time. Had I relied solely on sen cornyn and his staffers, I would have found myself in a much deeper hole. So if you can, seek out assistance from *both* your senator and representative and see what happens/works quicker. Another thing to find out if you can early on, is who is assigned your case. On a subsequent time around looking for help from the San Antonio office regarding a time sensitive issue, the experience was a lot less noteworthy and hence this review. The office is small, tasteful and on my visits, clean. It reminded me of a small solo practioner's office just adequate for 2-3 staffers. Remember to speak slowly and clearly about the issue you are having and have any paperwork with you on your visit. You may have to ask several times for the staffer(~$23k) to make copies of what you do have and attach them to your privacy release that will be sent to Dallas. In my case, the staffer did not volunteer much detailed information about the process and/ or timetables and probably because the office is so slow(as in glacial). be prepared to make helpful suggestions, references to customer service ideals and examples and ask ask ask lots of questions. It's quite possible your visit will interfere with the staffer texting/emailing while *acting* like s/he is there for any meaningful constituent assistance. I followed up with the San Antonio offices on two visits only to find it closed during normal business, huh?. There are excuses for this happening so there's not much to bitch and complain about.....it is small staffed, but temps are super cheap and ever hear about call forwarding? . If you are time sensitive, by all means make direct contact with the dallas office and bypass this office completely. I made the mistake of waiting too long for my paperwork to get to dallas only to find out that the senator would be unable to assist in any way. Again, it served me right to have another federal official (never underestimate the hunger for office) working on my behalf. The take home from me is deal with the Dallas office directly, ask for the staffer's name(they don't volunteer when they pick up) because the phone answerers all sound alike and be persistent about asking for updates on your issue(s).The staffers work for the senator and the last time I checked, the senator works for the people of texas. Everyone in every one of the senator's office should be reminded of that fact every day they go in to work. I have no political party loyalty.
