About 8 days ago I got a ""sorry we missed you"" notice in my mailbox informing me to go to the post office to pick up a registered letter.
I attempted to get it after work a few days later but the line was long and, with only 1 person behind the counter, not moving very quickly. After about 20 minutes I left.
Four days later I tried again. After waiting in line for 15 minutes (again, there was only 1 person behind the counter but quite a few pushing empty carts and moving empty containers in the back), I finally presented the postal employee with my notice.
He disappeared in the back for about 5 minutes, then finally came back and told me that the letter had been returned because no one had claimed it in the last month.
I pointed out that I got the notice only recently; he noted the date on the notice read ""7/7""; I asked why I had not received a 2nd or 3rd notice in that case? He had no response, possibly because he didn't speak English very well. I asked to speak to his supervisor.
A women eventually came out and after some discussion she admitted that my postal carrier (an Asian guy who can barely speak English) had ""probably"" written the wrong date on the notice, the letter should not have been returned, and she would speak with him.
Thank you, USPS, for screwing things up royally. I would give this sorry excuse for a post office zero stars if I could.
