Mary Ann is a great stylist who really took the time to listen to what my concerns were and what kind of style and cut I was looking for. I had given up on finding a such an artist in Indianapolis. I was even driving to a Salon south of Dayton, OH to have my hair needs met! I totally trust Mary Ann with suggestion about hair products, color, cut and style. I have baby fine hair and a bit thin on the top but Mary Ann has shown me how to style my hair so that any unwanted areas are cleverly concealed. Thanks Mary Ann! more

Mary Ann Havens is Great! I have thick naturally curly hair and it is hard to find someone to cut it so that it is not boggled down but also not sporting a mullet! She can wax, color, and cut! Cindy is also great for bikini waxes! The staff is friendly and a relaxing trendy salon that has great service, great prices, and home-like feel! Highest Review I can give!! After a chance meeting with Chris from Urban Gypsy at a great vintage store across the street he graciously agreed to go ahead and give me a very badly needed shaping to my already short haircut and his talents made me go from totally hating the way my hair looked to loving it in the matter of the time it took him to work his ""magic"". He also took his time, not looking at the clock every two minutes too see if the ten minute time limit was up like at some other haircut places who make a haircut seem like a cattle call, one after the other as fast as possible. From this day on for as long as I am in need of a haircut, Chris and Urban Gypsy will be the only one I go to. They even make you feel like even though they don't know you yet that you're welcome to stop by just to say hi any time you choose. Thank you Chris-you were just who I needed to meet today! more

Mary Ann is the best stylist I have ever known, which is saying quite a bit considering my age. Cut, color, service are all impeccable. Mary Ann listens, but she also gives her advice, which is very much welcomed. She is the ultimate professional. more

I set up a spur-of-the moment coloring appointment at Urban Gyspy to correct a DIY dye job gone wrong. I called on Saturday morning and was able to get an appointment with Chris that afternoon. Everyone was very friendly when I got there, especially Chris. I have long, thick, curly hair and am very apprehensive about cutting it (it has been over a year since my last haircut and it's obvious), and when I told him I didn't want it cut he was very understanding and didn't try to push me like other stylists do. I came in wanting a light brown/blonde color and explained my DIY job, and Chris explained to me that going lighter after a boxed dye was difficult and may not look great, so he showed me some colors that would look good on me and we decided to go darker. Chris was very easy to talk to and asked me several questions about my hair routine, and seemed genuinely interested in what I had to say. The color turned out great, and he also put some FeatherLocks in for me, which I love! The whole visit took about 2 and a half hours and he had some appointments scheduled after, but he was completely dedicated to me the whole time and didn't try to push me out the door. more

After 3 bad haircuts in the Indianapolis area I found Urban Gypsy on line. I called on a friday short notice & asked for a saturday appointment. They gave me two choices to choose from,which really impressed me. They are all very friendly. Chris was ""outstanding"". My hair was a total disaster,very frizzy,uneven and course. He did a beautiful job layering it and gave me a style that I can airdry,flatiron or curl it with a curling iron & it was the best haircut I have ever recieved.Will definitely go back to see Chris again. So if you want a fantastic haircut see Chris because he takes the time to do a ""Perfect"" job! more

Chris at Urban Gypsy is amazing. He greets with a smile and an enthusiasm that says, ""I'm here to focus on you for the next hour."" He listened well. My hair has never looked so great! Many are the compliments I receive. Well worth the 1.5 hour trip. As long as he's here...I'm coming back! more

i loved my experience at this salon. i have been looking for a new stylist because i've always used my moms, but i just dont like her cuts. when i called to make an appointment, they were able to get me in just two days later! it was in a well known area, with very conveinient parking. when i entered i was greeted by man at the register with a smile and even briefly conversed with. my stylist was MaryAnn. She was extremely friendly and talked to me in depth about what kind of hair i had, how much time i usually spend on it, what my routine is, and what exactly i was looking for, then during the washing and cutting we talked about general things. this was way back in early august. i have not had/needed a haircut since! i do plan to go in soon for a trim. but my point is that she did such a fabulous job, the cut lasted months. in these hard financial times, that's exactly what everyone needs. more

i tend to float between hair dressers, but chris gave me such a wonderful cut and challenged me to do something new with my hair - i loved it and will stick with urban gypsy from now on! more

I had a great massage by Rich. He had the perfect touch. He was able to work on my sore muscles (back and shoulders) without it being painful. After the massage, I was able to Christmas shop for several hours with no pain! more

I had excelent service during my first visit at Urban Gypsy! I found the location in a familiar place, equipped with great parking! I had booked an appointment the day off for a facial and massage service! I was happy to be greeted with such kindness. During the facial I definately felt that the ambiance in the room! Everything during the facial was great... Prior to service my skin was evaluated to its type as well as to what type of products would be needed for me! I was thoroughly pleased! Had a great facial first time I went to Urban Gypsy. Went for a massage and almost felt like leaving half way through. Went in for Neck, Back, Shoulders and specified that my neck was the area I wanted him to concentrate on, stated again right before that massage started, my neck is my problem area. 30 minutes in, still hadn't even touched my neck. Asked how it was going, I said, ""my neck is still bothering me."" Maybe some people like doing yoga stretches and are into ""Thai"" moves, but really I thought it was cheesy, uncomfortable, and was not relaxing at all. I left annoyed, my ears had been massaged more than my neck, which was still killing me because I actually left more stressed than I had before coming in. Total waste of money, I've had quite a few professional massages and this was hands down the worst I've ever had. more

Had a great facial the first time I went to Urban Gypsy, thought the massage would be just as good. Couldn't have been more disappointed. Unless you enjoy a light massage, this really isn't for you. I have alot of issues with my neck, knots, pressure and discomfort which I specified before we started. I was straight forward that I was there to have my neck worked on. After about 30 minutes in, my neck still hadn't even been touched which I voiced, I was to the point. I don't like my head massaged or my earlobes squeezed, I was there to have my neck worked on. Short story long, my neck still hurts, I left slightly annoyed. My roomate can find the knots in my neck. She's not a massage therapist. She locates underground utilities. I should've just gave her the $50. But at least my ear lobes are relaxed more

I was suggested to go to Urban Gyspy by a few co-workers and my frist experience was a great one. I had Chris cut my hair and he was great about talking with me to make sure that I got everything how I wanted it. He was nice, energetic and spent extra time with me to teach me how to style my hair too. more

I was looking for someone who could cut my short, wavy hair. I've been to Chris a couple times now and he's always done a great job. Takes his time to discuss the cut, see what's working for me, and then shows me how to style it. Very satisfied! more

I needed a new salon and live in the BR area. UG is so neat just from the outside, that i really wanted to go there. I called and asked to be set up with a confident stylist to cut my hair. I wanted someone who would be honest about telling me how what i wanted would work with my hair, someone who would listen when i said i did not want to spend hours with a blow dryer, etc. Chris Nagle did my hair and it is just what i wanted. As a bonus, he was fun to talk with, none of those awkward dead moments of stilted customer/stylist conversation. He was very confident, very knowledgeable and i can actually make my hair look almost as good as he did! I am very pleased and will go back again. more

I've been to Urban Gypsy a couple of times. The visit 2.5 weeks ago ended with me dissatisfied with my coloring job since I felt there were still roots showing, which I think may have been just a communication error, honestly (I say this due to previous fabulous coloring jobs). Even if it wasn't and it was a flat out mistake, they fixed it for free. Another stylist did the fix, but I wouldn't have minded if the original one had since the cut was fantastic and I had previously had great experiences with him. Everyone in there is nice. It's quiet and pleasant... unbelievably void of the normal snottiness you find in great hair salons. Even the stylist who made the 'mistake' greeted me and was incredibly pleasant. There was zero attitude. I won't be going elsewhere and don't suggest anyone else does and I highly recommend *any* of the stylists. more

After living in Miami for over 12 years and being able to find someone to do a waxing easily, it was a challenge trying to find someone in Indiana. I lucked up when I found Cindy and her salon! I have been there 3 times and each time I was treated with the upmost care. Cindy is a wonderful person and I enjoy our conversations. I am now 4 months pregnant and was a little reluctant about getting a bikini wax; however Cindy was gentle, quick, and precise! Love her! Price is great and Cindy knows what she is doing!
