I don't care how large the selection is I will not spend any more money there. just left Uptown Costume on Magazine Street. As soon as I stepped in the door I was not greeted with a welcome but a look then told that I had to leave my purse at the door. OMG I could not believe that, I can understand shopping bags but my purse with my phone, cash, credit cards, SS card, Camera and other valueable things. I told them I would put this on my social networking sites. And the little bobble head said OK. So here my dear here it is, I hope you enjoy. I have faced rudeness in there before but I just though that the person was having a bad day. Well I will let my entire Mardi Gras organization the is comprised of 2000 women of all races not to shop there. They obviously do not value customers more

I went into shop to get something for my daughter for school. We were meet at the door not with a hello nor a welcome. But an uncle tom telling me to check my medium size handbag. After realizing he'd made a mistake about my handbag he said go ahead. None of the white associates , ask if they could help me or my child. the manger ask what did the man want at the door, I explained he wanted my purse and was not getting it because it had all of my belonging in it , plus cash. She replied by saying I should have my money in my pocket not my purse. So my child and I left the store. I ask my white friend to return with my purse, she was asked no questions about the purse and she said someone ask to help her but she still thought that they were rude. Cons: rude and prejudice more

I've never been able to reach them by phone -- ever. Most of the time when they're supposed to open they're not. What's the point of having a unique business when it's never open? I'll take the extra time to go to Vieux Carre Hair Shop on Maple! Pros: Pretty things in the window... Cons: Never open to purchase them! more

I was so impressed with the costumes in stock and the wonderful assistance I received from the young lady helping me (Andrea). It is obvious that she enjoys her job and working with customers to fine just the right costume for the occasion. I would recommend anyone looking for a costume to go to Uptown Costumes and ask for ANDREA!! Pros: Staff and quality of costumes a plus! Cons: Parking a little bit difficult. more

Uptown Costume and Dancewear has a decidely warehouse feel to it, but that not nearly as important as the huge selection of wigs, costumes, masks, and accessores they offer. This is one of the best places to visit for your costume needs, be it Halloween or a theme party. The staff is friendly and knowledgable, and the prices are well within reason. PROS: Great range of products, helpful staff CONS: No parking to speak of more
