I have been seeing Michael for the past few months to deal with a few disc issues in my neck and back. I have always been very hesitant to try acupuncture, as needles freak me out. Not only is there no reason to be afraid, Michael has helped me tremendously with both my pain level and stiffness. More so, his focus is on long term wellness, not just keeping his client base. After five years of pills, cortisone shots and weekly therapy, I am finally on a real path to neck and back health. Prior to seeing Michael I had seen two Orthopedic Specialists and my Primary Care doctor after experiencing severe pain in my back. First the doctors prescribed large quantities of Narcotics and Muscle relaxers, which offered short term relief but as soon as the meds wore off I was back to the same problem. The Doctors also tried injections which again, offered short term relief but nothing lasting. After six months of pain and a final diagnosis that my spinal column was narrow so I would likely have to deal with the pain or forego doing any physical activity I decided to give Acupuncture a try. After two appointments with Michael I started feeling relief. Today I am pain free and have returned to my active lifestyle. I was referred to this office by a friend of mine who has been getting acupuncture for years at this same location. I have been medicated for anxiety since I was a child, on and off different medications and nothing ever helped. After my second treatment, I threw away my anti-anxiety medication. I learned that after I've already experienced an anxiety attack, it's already too late to pop a pill. The anxiety attack has already happened! So Michael is treating me for my anxiety before the attacks even take place. And I have been anxiety attack free since my first visit. Michael is a very professional individual. Kind, sweet, and he educates you about the benefits of acupuncture and what it can do for you. He referred me to a few highly recommended chiropractors in the area. His office is neat and tidy, and he has done a great job of making you feel like you're walking into a day spa, not a doctor's office. The treatments I've been receiving at Michael's office, along with the chiropractic adjustments via his referral really are keeping my body in harmony, just like his business card says! I feel like a new person! There's even a cute little puppy who sits underneath the desk in the front (you have to go out of your way to look for him because he's so quiet and well behaved) who literally looks like a teddy bear. I have always been an advocate of acupuncture. It has served me well for recovering from back surgery and a bout with migrane headaches years ago. It has something that I have felt has been beneficial for pain management but also for mental maintenance. I really wish I could post this review in a place that the entire world could see it, well OK, perhaps just all of the U.S. I am 37 years old and have suffered from chronic lower back pain since I was 24 years old. Degenerative disk disease, to be specific. Since my first diagnosis in the late 90's I have tried all sorts of physical therapists, personal trainers, pain medications - both prescription and over the counter, cortisone injections, and radio-frequency ablation. All of these various treatments have given me very tepid result in the area of pain relief, so I finally decided (2 weeks ago) to try acupuncture as many folks have suggested. After my first treatment, for the first time in what seemed like ever, I was pain free IMMEDIATELY after jumping off of the table. I was a little skeptical about the results, but now after my second and third treatments I am completely sold. The relief that Michael has given to me is nothing short of a miracle. Yes, even after three treatments I am able to sit, walk, stand, exercise for long periods of time with NO PAIN. So, if you're in the market for an acupuncturist, look no further!! Prior to my first session with Michael I had a headache for three days and constant pain in my back, shoulders, and neck. After just two sessions I was astonished that my back and shoulder pain had ceased completely. I have seen chiropractors, massage therapists, acupuncturists, rheumatologists, and have a prescription for muscle relaxants but the effects never lasted more than a couple days if they even gave me relief at all. Michael is extremely thorough and asks you questions about issues you didn't even think acupuncture could help. I have not seen this type of relief in years and still can't believe how quickly he was able to accomplish it. Since I had already tried acupuncture and have a lot of friends who have been helped by it I walked into the therapy with Michael confident. But if you have pain, ailments or just want to be healthier and are hesitant about acupuncture, I couldn't encourage you enough to just go for it! I was also referred to Michael by a close friend. I decided to try acupuncture because of major issues with chronic nausea. After going through multiple tests and various medications, I chose to explore a different route. I have had great results with Michael! I've been having significantly less nausea problems since I started (I've been going about 3 months now). I found Michael's practice online when I was diagnosed with a severely herniated disc at the C6-C7 level. In the first few treatments, Michael helped me reduce the swelling in the back of my head and also radically reduced the tingling in my fingers. He blends his knowledge of orthopedic care with his expertise in acupuncture so that you truly get the best of both worlds. I had been struggling with tension headaches for several years. Bad enough that they would pull me off the ski slopes on a beautiful powder day. I tried everything. A friend recommended acupuncture, so I decided to give it a shot. After my first few sessions with Michael, the headaches were gone completely. I've had a few sessions and so far I've noticed a reduction in pain. I have had lower back problems for 3 years now, and I've tried many many different treatments (steroid injections, yoga, massage therapy, you name it). So far this has worked the best! I was recently referred to Michael from my orthopedic surgeon at Orthopedic associates in Rose hospital. I was diagnosed with a bulging disc in my back and was having sever pain down my leg. I told my doc I was not interested in surgery at this point and that is when he recommended Michael Lay at Uptown Acupuncture. After talking with Michael about my problem we decided on a course of action and now my pain is completely gone. I went to see him a total of 8 times over 6 weeks or so and now have no pain. I was referred to Michael by a close friend of mine. Having never had received acupuncture treatment previously, I was a bit apprehensive to try it. I have had chronic neck pain from a car accident 10 years ago. For this, I have received chiropractic treatment off and on for 7 years. While the chiropractic work helped, I felt like it was unnatural and addictive. In less than 10 sessions with Michael I am pain free. I highly recommend his services. I was referred to Michael by my neurologist for chronic back pain and sciatica. I had been working with my neurologist when he recommended that I try Uptown Acupuncture when we could not solve the problem. I have struggled with 2-3 headaches a week since I was 13 years old and only after 2 months of acupuncture I have maybe 1 headache a month.
