Back when I used to be really big into making my own jewelry, UF&F was my local mecca (a few steps down from Int'l Glass and Bead, but much closer) for all things clasps and seed beads. Nowadays, their arts and crafts section has gone increasingly down the tubes, but they still cling to some sort of the past dignity they once held with local jewelery-makers. The other (and better lighted) half of the store is to pets and pet, and is probably the best place to go for your basics if you don't want to pay the prices of PetCo or Petsmart. They have a good selection of tropical fish, as well as cockatiels and finches galore. They used to actually sell puppies and kittens, but no more.
