University of Michigan-Flint

This is really a good school academically. The campus is beautiful and the school offers alot of different undergrad and grad programs that should satisfy alot of different people. The advatage of going to this school is saving alot of money on tuition while not losing quality, also being able to stay home and not have to move away. However the campus has some drawbacks that come with being a commuter college. The college atmosphere is not there, and some of the events and multiculturalism that goes with bigger universities does not exist here. more

While I only spent a semester at UM-Flint before I went back to Ann Arbor, I realized that Flint is a great a school close to home. While it may not have the reputation that comes with the University of Michigan - Ann Arbor, the professors are very intelligent and quite interested in helping students. It was nice to spend some time at a smaller school where the professors knew you by name and were interested in your academic success. If you're looking to cut your costs and attend a school close to home, the UM-Flint is a great choice. The only problem with UM Flint may be that the classes are not offered as frequently as they may be at a larger university, and many of the science classes that were only one semester in Ann Arbor took two semesters in Flint. With these problems aside it is still a nice school with excellent professors (at least that was my experience in the science department). more
