University Of Maryland

The University of Maryland is supposedly one of the nation's best public universities. From what I've seen of it, that holds true. In fact, my cousing hopes to attend next year. The campus is relatively close to DC, which is a great plus for students and area residents, who can take advantage of the campus for a variety of activities. Getting more expensive, though. more

I'm now entering my senior year here, and I've had a great time. Education is very good if you get a competent professor. Resources are plentiful because of many researchers, professors, TA's, and libraries. Many programs are in the top ten for public universities as well. Dorms, which include 10Mbit ethernet connections, are not prisons but they aren't luxury suites either. Campus is beautiful and there is a lot of school pride. Also, wireless internet coverage is spreading rapidly. more

The University of Maryland has a broad range of degrees available, as is expected of a public, state university. It has one of the most satisfying recreation centers, with several indoor and outdoor pools, basketball courts, free weights, nautilus, treadmills, and more. The campus rolls with the hills it's built on and provides a beautiful oasis from the city-feel that surrounds it. It is mainly a commuter school, though, as there are not enough dorms for the students. There is an on-campus organization devoted to meet commuter-students' needs: Commuter Affairs and Community Services. They provide information on how to find apartments/rooms to rent in the area and how best to get around. There is also a bus service that allows all Maryland students to use their student cards to get around town for free. more
