The first of the UC campuses, Berkeley has a good deal of both natural beauty developments. The university has a rich history of academic, athletic, and social pursuits and accomplishments. It is one of the top-ranked research institutes in the world, and is often noted for its developments in various fields. I am currently in my freshman year here, and I must say, it's a great place to be. Even with its quirks. more

There's a reason Berkeley was the only school I applied to: it was the only place I wanted to go. Luckily for me I got in, because I don't think anything else could have matched it. Besides all of the stuff you could say about any college, (like new area, out on your own, etc), there is tangible quality of everything there.The professors there are the ones that wrote the books, the research there is what everyone else goes off of. I'm finishing up my undergraduate years at the time of this review, and my feelings for the school have only increased over the years. more

This is a fabulous university- the number one public research university in the world! Attend Cal and you will not regret it. There are over 7000 student organizations and clubs, and there is always something to do here, that is, after you finish studying for those exams. And go golden bears! more

When I was deciding which school to go to, I was stuck between UC Berkeley and NYU. NYU was in the middle of New York City and drew me in with its culture...but after realizing the small fortune it would have taken to live there, I decided on Cal...Never did I imagine what I'd go through being here. Cal really leaves you on your own here...and it's sink or swim, but through that struggle to stay afloat, you really mature and find out what you're made of. This place is filled with tons of really smart people and that can really be annoying when you show up for class all the time and they sleep through the few lectures that they do show up for and then totally rock the midterm...but that's really humbling...I've grown and matured so much and my mind has been enlightened in so many areas since coming here and I don't think I would have gotten that in any other school. Yeah, its kinda smelly and gross, but that just makes me love it even more...that it doesn't need to look great to be a great school more

Undoubtedly, Berkeley is a great school with smart people. However, what sets it apart is its rich history of liberal protests and the location. The town of Berkeley may seem like it's full of panhandlers, but after awhile its unique charm grows on you. Its public transportation system is very convenient and you can escape to San Francisco by BART. The campus is very spread out so be ready to walk a lot of get around on a bike! more

Firstly, this University is very hard to get into, so if you get into it, i suggest you stay in. University of California - Berkeley, or CAL is one of the oldest UC's around, if not the eldest. It has almost every major available to you. It also provides dorms to freshmens and it has many appartments around for the upperclassmen. Even though there might be homeless people around at times, you forget about it because of all the historical buildings to look at. If you want a good college to go to, CAL is the way to go. more

While it isn’t the same place as it was in the 1970s, UC Berkeley is still probably one of the liberalist universities in the country. Situated in the middle of downtown Berkeley on a beautiful campus, UC Berkeley is a must see for any trip to Berkeley. While walking around campus is fun, there are a few things to pick out special to take a look at. The Valley Life Science building houses a T-Rex and the clock tower (the Campanile) offers amazing view of Berkeley. more

Berkeley was tough, I don't think I've studied that much in my whole life. I can't believe how much time I spent on some classes only to barely pass the class. Ironically, it seemed that the less time I spent on a class, the better I did. The value in going to Berkeley it's so much the book knowledge you get, but the toughness it teaches you and how to solve problems. It's extremely competitive there though you might have been the smartest one in your high school, you'll meets a whole bunch of people just like that in your classes. I can definitately say that I'm a lot better off for making it through my 4 years there. more

Ok so here's my review of the best public university in the US, UC Berkeley. The univ offers a huge variety of courses in a plethora of departments which have some of the best faculty in the world. The fees is reasonable though has been going up for the past couple of years due to cuts by the Governator. There's a host of extra curricular activites you can participate in. Great people. Best place to be. more

This school is not good. Despite of being so called top public university in the country, the quality of education is bad. The classes are huge and you don't get any attention from the professors. Most professors don't care about the classes at all anyway. At Berkeley education is not valued, research is. The administration is full of red tape and sometimes you just feel really lost. Facilities are not great either. This place keep taking budget cuts and charge exorbitant tuition for us out of state students. stay away, don't come to this school, I hate it. more

And a beauty it is! What a wonderful, green, lush campus this is! The buildings are interesting. So many libraries. Lots of protests:) It gives a great education. I know a few people who have graduated from this university and you can tell just by talking to them that they are educated. more
