Have a problem and the only person can handle it is the owner. Went to the store for the orginal purchase, After finding out that the purchase was not going thru. I return for the money back, told first time to talk to owner will be in later, come back second time told need talk to owner, when i express the incovience of the situation, told that no one has access to money expect owner, They have the gun and the money. Problem 4 times returning to store. Find the situation Cheap, and unprofessional, no one has the authority to resolve situation, but the owner. more

Nice guys, fair prices 8/12/2011

I have bought several used guns from them and have been satisfied with the process every time. Yes, they get busy sometimes...use the time to browse. There is a lot of cool stuff in the shop. Apparently some people don't understand the lost concepts of ""waiting your turn"" or ""negotiating a price"". These are people you can build a relationship with and now that I know them, they treat me like an old friend. If you want your ass kissed Nebraska is a few blocks west.... more

Not Looking To Good! 6/1/2011

I have also dealt with the Manatee, i do have to say the place feels like a prison stuck in crap hole. and good luck asking anyone around to see a weapon and when they do decide to get off their cell phones they give you a crazy price. There is maybe one guy who actually gives a crap about a sale is the owner of the place but everyone else a joke!!! Save your time and money and go get a real experience somewhere else, i admit when buying a firearm you are excited and when the place destroys that feeling, its like screw it whats the point. I think everyone who has posted a review for this is on the same page with me, get new help if you want to stay running ASAP!!!! more

All working the day I went in were the best. Just shows you can't always trust some unhappy campers. For some you can never make happy. THIS IS A GREAT PLACE AND I WILL GO BACK AND RECOMEND TO ALL!!!! more

Worst experience 3/1/2011

I bought a SA 1911 from a Shop online from Arizona and i figured id use UG&P to do the transfer and well to start that manatee behind the desk did the talking and made it seem as if he didnt want to do the transfer but was gonna do it anyway well long story short i ordered it 2 weeks ago 2/21 is the date of purchase in the invoice i got and yet even though i asked when the wait period started he said the date of purchase but since he didnt get a copy to put his grubby hands on he put it as the date of purchase 3/1 so now i get to wait 3 extra days and i have the invoice from the gun store with a giant stamp saying PAID 2/21/11 so if i could do it all over again i would not pick this place for a transfer i dont even wanna do this transfer but i guess i must but it will definitely be the last time i do NOT recommend this place the other people say there good but they all say they've done business with them for years i want a gun store thats nice from the start not something that comes from buying stuff from them more

Charlie runs a good family business!!! I have been a customer for years. The guys down at University are great. They are no nonsense and deliver. The pricing is very fair and they get you what you want quick!!! more

Nice building amidst an inner city - bad neighborhood environment reminicant of Tekrit!. HORRIBLE customer service - when requesting to look at an item was greeted with a t-shirt clad representative who didnt even budge from their cell phone! WILL NEVER BE BACK AND WILL NEVER RECOMMEND THIS STORE TO ANYONE! There is wayyyy too much competition to be treated poorly by an obvious police academy dropout....pathetic... Pros: Aerobic exercise avoiding the clutter on the floor Cons: Hmmmm - where to begin more

A Really Great ""Real"" Gun Shop! 2/4/2010

I have been going to this store for 18 years it has a great selection of firearms and related items! The prices are the lowest & best in the area! If you don't see it they will order it for you and once again at a great low price! They buy guns -so you can trade in your used and unwanted older firearms! They also have rare and harder to find firearms and class 2 & 3 firearms! The local family owner and staff is friendly and knows their stuff! They do get busy, let them know your interested in a firearm then take the time to look around while they help the other customers. As another reviewer said when it is your turn - it seems you are the only one in the store at that time! PS - If you don't know something about a gun your thinking about ""just ask them""! Overall University Gun & Pawn is a gun buyers paradise even for a first timer or a long time gun owner & buyer! Pros: Low prices, Great Selection, Local Owned. more

This place is great! They have the selection of a big gun store with the lowest prices I've seen anywhere (even comparable to most internet specials!), very clean and well-organized layout, friendly KNOWLEDGABLE staff.
