I have gotten many prescriptions specially made for my cat at here. That's why when my cat got sick and I needed a special RX, my first thought was UC. I was told when I ordered it that it was expensive ($450), but as I only needed a portion of the bottle, I would only need to buy my portion ($140). When I called 3 days later to see if the prescription was ready, I was told they were filling it. 3 hours later I got a call from the owner, Joe McClosky, stating that he just received the medicine (I thought it was being filled?!) and he asked if I knew how expensive it was. I told him yes, but they told me I didn't need to buy the whole bottle since I only needed 1/4 if it. He told me that this was not the case and the only way he would sell it to me is if I ""promised"" to come back and refill the RX 3 times to use up the entire bottle. By promising to refill it, I would need to leave my credit card # on file so if the pet DIED or I decided I didn't need the rest of the medicine, he could charge me for it anyway. (Seriously?!) He compared this situation to buying $40,000 in stock, and someone coming in and only buying $10,000 of it?! Then he told stories about how when his dog was dying (then he corrected it ""well, almost dying"") and a doctor told him he needed $1,000 to keep the dog alive, he bit the bullet and charged $1,500 on his credit card (changing the story 3 times in our 15 min conversation.) Then he started in about how his rent is going up, and gas prices are up, so he can't afford for me not to buy the whole bottle. As if I am not feeling the same strains of the economy?? He then told me that I was LUCKY he even ordered this for me because he has only filled it twice in his career, and I wouldn't be able to get it filled elsewhere. BTW I am having it filled at CVS. Even after my good experiences, I will NEVER step foot in University Compounding while Joe McClosky is still the owner. He was rude, condescending and an all around mean person.
Pros: They make or order almost any prescription you need
Cons: They tell you 1 thing when you drop off the RX, and another when you pick it up. My experience with this pharmacist goes beyond bad business and service.
