Large Research School 3/26/2006

The University at Buffalo is one of those very large state schools. There are advantages and disadvantages to the size. The advantage to the size is you can meet a lot of people and it has almost unlimited resources for research (both library and lab). The down side is you can get lost in the masses if you let yourself slip under the rug. You need to find some smaller classes to take and get to know a few of the professors. This way you can have at least a few personalized interactions with some of the faculty. more

Definately a big school, but ways to make it seem smaller. 3/20/2006

If you want a small, quiant school, look elsewhere. There are over 30,000 people here and some of your classes will be big. However, as a result of that, they have many different activities, clubs, sports, etc. These are much smaller and can make you feel more involved. Because they are a state school, they are affordable, but a lot of their science programs are top rate. They have a lot of different majors so if you have to switch, you can. There is a lot of stuff to do outside of the school. more
