I find it hard to imagine that anyone could write such negative reports on this fantastic group of professionals. I have used these folks and their practice for at least 16-17 years and have found them to be "World Class A+" How could this practice be put in the #1 slot so many times and voted a finalist for all of Manatee County small businesses and be as bad as some of these folks have stated. My pets have NEVER received anything but the BEST of care under Dr. Rill's care as well as his staff. Always caring and compassionate with A++ technical and surgical skills!! Really, some of these folks need to take a better look at what they have put down and maybe it was them and not the clinic or staff. more

Editorial review from Citysearch 3/15/2014

I have known Dr. Rill for 50yrs and have always taken my animals to him. I have read all the negative reviews about him and I am truly appalled by these comments. Dr. Rill has always been a true professional and caring veterinarian. His surgical abilities are outstanding. Perhaps the negative reviewers were having a bad day. None of us is 100% right all the time. As far as the monetary value of the services offered; if clients think it is too expensive, go someplace else. There is no need to bad mouth the Unniversity Animal Clinic. In conclusion, I would definitely recommend Dr. Rill and the University Animal Clinic for veterinary care. more

Very Poor 7/15/2011

Just Say No. Dr Rill has proven himself to be only about the dollar. Very disappointed in the level of service my dog was provided. 6 months of incorrect diagnosis after another combined with improper treatments led to over $600 of dollars for a simple ear infection. I took the same dog to another vet and they cleared up his ear within a week. more

disengaged except when it comes to the bill 1/25/2011

I couldn't agree more with the other reviewers. The vet seems quite nice, but is totally unengaged. You practically have to suggest your own diagnosis and treatment, then use the internet to make sense of the test results. If your pet is suddenly very sick, don't hold your breath waiting for your vet to call you back. Instead, a rude compassionless stranger will call you back, make you feel like a monster for not euthanizing your pet at the ER, and tell you to bring the pet in to do so, as "that's all we can do for you." What goes unsaid is anything even remotely helpful or kind. Is it too much to hope your vet would call you back personally and at least pretend to care that your pet is clearly dying? In such experiences, a voice of experience and trust is needed, not a compassionless scolding from a stranger! Congratulations-- I will never forget that horrible conversation. It must feel very gratifying, being so good at what you do. more

Not caring vets, they only care about the money! 1/16/2011

It is true that this clinic only cares about money. After having dogs and cats for many years we got a cockatiel 6 months ago. This clinic has an avian vet, so we took our birdie in to make sure she was healthy, and also establish a relationship with a vet in case of injury or illness. My little girl suffered an injury on a Saturday and I called this clinic and explained our bird was an established patient. The receptionist told us they would be closing in 30 minutes, and referred us to an emergency clinic 50 miles away. I asked if the vet could call me so I could describe the injury to determine if emergency care was needed or not, and I was told, "NO, the vet will not call you. Go to the ER clinic 50 miles away, or call us Monday morning." After further research, I found Bayshore Animal Hospital, and Dr Moosler agreed to meet me at the clinic Sunday morning. My birdie did require emergency interventions. It is clear Dr Moosler has a deep caring for his patients. I will never go back to the University Animal Clinic. The purpose of having an established patient physician relationship is so that one can call in case of emergency, but they are obviously not interested in establishing this kind of professionalism, they want the dollars only. SHAME ON YOU, UNIVERSITY ANIMAL CLINIC!!! more

I do not reccomend this place. 12/12/2010

If I could give it zero stars, I would. Very unprofessional staff, snappy, and rude. I felt very uncomfortable here and did not trust them with my animals. more

Knowledgeable and respectful 11/19/2010

Saved my cat from a urinary blockage. Was hospitalized for 2 days and got excellent treatment. I could tell they treated my boy with kindness as he didn't seem traumatized at all by the 2 day visit. Vet was very knowledgeable with prescription diets to combat the illness as well. When sent home, I felt he had full treatment both for now and the future. Very expensive though, much more so than other vets in the area which is the reason they didn't get full 5 stars. more

This is one of the worst vets I've ever been to! 8/16/2010

Be careful about this veterinarian, they only care about money. Please do your research before you go to this place. It is obvious they don?t care about the animals as much as they do their bottom line. Several people at the dog park told me not to go to University Animal Hospital because they overcharge and are not very caring or professional and they were right. They charged me a lot more than they quoted on the phone and did not appear to be very experienced. After doing a very short exam in which she barely looked at my dog (Charge - $250.00) The vet told me she "did not know how to do a routine cardio and would have to research the procedure first" Wow! I worked at a vet for 5 years and that is a basic procedure. They also charged me about $150 more than they quoted me on the phone and have still not produced the lab work I paid for! If you care at all about your animals, I would not take them here! The vet is largely paid by the greyhound racing association if that tells you wh more

We love our vet and his staff 10/27/2008

We have been going to Dr. Rill for years. We have had 4 of our dogs (2 of them are gone now) going to them from the time that they were puppies until old age. The girls in the office are so nice and always make a "to do" about our two chocolate labs. I also see them with other people and everyone is special. We also like seeing Dr. Fellman since she has a lab and knows all about them. She gets on the floor to check them out, since putting them on a table won't work. more
