dont go here; acting schools are not operated like this 11/1/2011

Never join a place to requires you to pay for employment. I paid the 10 dollars for a head shot which i regret but at least I didn't pay the 600 dollars he was so pushy about. Anyone can rent an office space, hang movie posters on the wall, and have a camera to take headshots. The more the interview went on, the more the deeper the b-llshit. more

Universal talent Agency is not as bad as everyone says...... 3/23/2011

Honestly, I found them on craigslist as well. I did take some classes, which were fun and I did get the head shots. I did get called a lot of times to work and they pay an average of $90 a day and they provide you lunch, dinner or both. You get to meet a lot of interesting people while making a film. And honestly, its really not a hard job. You get a lot of free time to do what ever you want. Bring a book, do home work, etc. The guys are really nice there too, at ""The Universal Talent"". so I really can't say anything bad about them. I got paid on time too so I really can't complain. Regarding the phone calls for a next day job, I never had a problemwith them not answering. There is a recorded message which you can replay a million times, which tells you what to wear and where to be. No brainer!! more

I would give this place a negative star rating if i could. Like the previous reviewers i went in to this place looking for some extra money. I have no desire to be an actor or model so i really didn't care what they were selling, i had no money to waste. i don't think these people have ever even met anyone famous. This place looks like a dump , its almost laughable how trashy the office is. It should be enough to send you running. These guys are only out for money and will try to get 10-20 dollars from you within 1 min of you walking in, i promise. They make their money by pushing horrible head shots ( which you have to take if you want to work for them) and acting classes for 600 bucks. If you tell them you need time to think about it they will keep pressuring you to give in all the way out the door. They don't care if they get 600 from you or 10 bucks, they just want something. There is enough bad about this place to write a book. Just do yourself a favor and stay away. These people will not make you famous. You'll be lucky if they get you a job standing in a crowd (which will pay like 50 bucks by the way). In the long run or even the short run you will end up giving them much much more money then they will ever get you. Check out rippoffreportscom Pros: You will get a good laugh Cons: If you fall for the scam you will lose alot of $$$ more

Scam 11/5/2009

I went to Universal Talent today 11/05/09 for an interview as a movie extra I saw on craigslist. First off the office is very sleazy. You walk in and there are movie posters posted all over the walls as if they put people in these movies. Second there are 100s upon 100s of headshots all over the walls of these no name people who most likely have no shot at working in the ""acting business."" Third, the owner walks out of his office and picks up the phone from the secretary to talk to some woman and he ends up saying to her- your check bounced and you need to send another one, I cannot talk to you about jobs now call me later- someone is here. He then asked me if I had any headshots- for which they never mentioned I should bring and then he offered to take some for me for $10, I think he figured I wouldn't pay much more than that. So when he offered that I said- I'm not looking to become an actor, I don't want modeling classes, I don't want to take acting classes- I just want to earn some small change for being in the back of a movie. I don't need to make a profile like I'm trying to star in the next Transformers. He says to me well- why don't you get a picture and bring it back and we'll interview you again? He said we'll get your photo then open a portfolio for you for a deposit of $150. I just said don't worry about it and walked out. Not worth your time people. It wasn't really worth seeing it for myself but at least now I know I can prevent people from going there as well. Thanks for reading. Pros: Nice secretary Cons: Scam more

dont think this will make you rich 12/21/2008

I think Universal talent is a stepping stone and its just for beginners but dont think you will become rich over nite because u took a few pictures and got a few interested in you. Your career and how far you go with acting or modeling is solely up 2 you. If you have already started in your career this one isnt for you this is for beginners Only. Take the acting classes and the extra jobs they find for you and when you are ready to advance to the next level then do it on your own. No AGENCY can make you rich you make yourself rich when you have the drive and motivation to do this. $600 is steep but Ive already got called for 2 jobs before my headshots were even printed!!!! Universal is what you make it if you found it to be useless then you wasted your own money by yourself. take those headshots and C.D and be your own agent because nobody can sell you like you can. Pros: acting classes available social environment allows questions Cons: very pushy for money, not enough jobs, it should be different levels of acting classes more

scam talent agency 7/1/2008

Do not get ripped off by these guys. look at rip off reports if you think i'm the only one. there are so many reports on these guys it's sad. These guys are predators on people wanting to get into showbiz. they automatically hardsell you into needing a headshot and classes that come out to $600. they tell you it's going to be a week for your headshots and it took over a month. They were giving every excuse under the bus for hy it was not ready when they said it should be. They then tell you to do weekend jobs where you have to call a number on friday night. Surprise surprise no one there getting a voice mail so you don't know where to go. They then tell you Monday that you have to pay $100 because you missed the shoot. I wouldn't be surprised if they did this on purpose. I'm warning anyone please go to a reputable agency in NY. A reputable one will not charge upfront and will take 10%of your work. These guys charge 15% which is unheard of. I saw this poor lady who was so nice but she was far from having a actress look let alone a standout look where you could get in by a weird type of look like mini me. They promised her the stars and told her of course you need to get pictures that day before she could even think about it. I wanted so bad to tell get out now but I was going through my own nonsence with them. There. more
