My name is Darren O.(aka ""The Raging Alcoholic""). I am a very grateful member of AA & alumni of ARC, Class of 2006,with almost 3 years of sobriety. While my life is not perfect,it has changed dramatically for the better since checking in & successfully completing my stay at the Unio Recovery Center(ARC in 2006). I live in Canby, OR & have met several other AA's who sought their own personal serenity & solitude at this particular ""institution"" living very nearby. If your ready for a positive change in your life, this is a great place to start. If your not willing to make changes in your life, then sit down, shut up & listen anyway. ""Accepting the things we cannot change"" doesn't mean you have to like it. Lie your way through it to keep the judicial system happy & finish destroying the lives of those around you. Go back to your old ideas. Do it your way. Remember, it's your life. Be your own director. Then e-mail me at: billw1009@yahoo and tell me about all your new found success! ""But I will die if I drink or use again!"" you say. No you won't! I tried it. Many, many times. Instead of making the positive changes needed for survival, I just kept lowering my standards & expectations. I was on the express elevator straight to the depths of hell. Once I arrived, I discovered there was only one way up & out. Take the stairs(steps). All 12 of them. ARC taught me that. ARC told me how to find others just like me. I could see the light at the end of the tunnel. And for the first time in over 21 years, I had the confidence that the light ahead wasn't a freight train barreling down upon me. ARC was the very beginning of a brand new way of living for me. I highly recommend this program to any & all who are ""sick & tired of being sick & tired""! Darren O.
Pros: Teaches a strong message of the importance of AA.
Cons: Counselors can overstep their boundaries a bit.
