Went to Umi with friends. I ordered my filet cooked rare. We watched as the chef prepared the food. He cooked and cooked this one piece of meat and to my surprise when he was done he put it on my plate. ""No,"" I protested,""I ordered it rare."" He told me that it was rare. It wasn't. After he cooked the food for the rest of the table, knowing that I wasn't pleased, he offered to cook me another piece of meat. I accepted. This time he cooked it for a much shorter time and some of the pieces were OK. But because he had sliced it in all different sized pieces (some sliced, some chunks) some of the pieces were raw and I ended up with a gross piece that I had to spit out in a tissue. Ugh! \r
The rest of the meal was equally terrible. The salad was iceberg with some kind of tasteless creamy dressing. The soup tasted like beef broth straight from a can. The white rice was cold. \r
The service was inattentive and one time rude. When one of my friends did not choose to drink the soup the waitress commented to her that it was now difficult for her to pick up all the dishes. \r
The manager never came over to our table. I paid for the food which I left on the plate. I should have asked for the manager but I didn't.
Pros: chef tried to make it right, but failed
Cons: meat not properly cooked
