Best

I eat lunch at Umezono every chance I can. Dollar-for-dollar, it is very good Japanese family-style-restaurant food at a reasonable price. Since the late 1980's I estimate that I ...

We have been here many times for a year. And 80% of the times we had really bad service. We told ourselves that it might not be their good day and gave them another chance and ano...

Japanese for Middel Class Customers 4/14/2005

The restauarant is geard toward middle class customers, owning 2 restauarnts and 2 grocery stores, the fish for sushi is flown in from Japan every Thursday, since they stay busy they usually use up most of the fish on weekends... Sushi is always fresh and inexpensive, where else can you eat chirashi sushi (many sushi fish on bowl of rice) for $11 most other sushi restaurants offer it for $15-25. Since the restaurant is geared toward family, they have chicken wings and potstickers. I usually eat the combinations of the following: Chirashi, Katsudon, and Katsu Curry. Katsu curry is Japanese original curry, where they deep fry pork cutlet and place it over a bed of rice and pour Japanese curry over it, most excellent. They aslo have many grilled fish to choose from. Sometimes I see them running into the grocery store next door to get items they run out... Pros: great value, easy to find, authentic Cons: poor service, hard to get table more

Hidden gem behind Boomers 12/29/2002

Only after living in West Cobb for two years did we finally find Umezono. We have lived in NYC for more than 15 years, and Umezono certainly competes with the better Japanese restaurants in NYC (which are among the best in the country). Sushi is extremely fresh, rice bowls are delicious and great reheated (if you can't finish them), and teriyaki is excellent (wife's favorite). Only problem is that they have no concept of when to bring out food (main course almost always arrives before appetizers). So order as you eat so that you get things in the right order. You'll also be able to stop when you are full and not have dishes still coming out! Pros: Inexpensive, Good parking Cons: Service (timing) more

One of the best restaraunts in Atlanta 8/6/2002

Umezono has got to be the best-kept secret in Georgia. Everything on the (huge) menu is wonderful and reasonably priced--don't limit yourself to the sushi (although it's great). The service is imepccable. Well worth a long drive. Pros: Inexpensive, Great food, Authentic Cons: Limited seating more

awesome; affordable and great! 7/25/2002

very affordable, yet very good and authentic, japanese. one of very very few japanese restaurants where most or all of the waitresses are japanese. almost feels like you're in japan when you walk into the restaurant as well. very clean. incredibly affordable, with a LOT on the menu to choose from. definitely my favorite japanese restaurant, ever! Pros: affordable, good quality Cons: crowded, small more
