Just had my second cut at Salon Pure, and it's phenomenal*** The first one was great, but the second was more of a risk since I was going from shoulder length layers to a chin length bob. Scott took almost an hour just cutting my hair, first wet then dried and flat ironed then tousled...standing, sitting, moving, he took every angle into account to create the perfect modern little bob with fringe layers in the front. LOVE IT*** I know 2 people who have also gone to him and love their cuts as much as I love mine. if you want an excellent hair cut and excellent service try this place. Tonantzin listened to me and gave me her professional opinion which was great!!! I've finally found a stylist who I will trust and recommend to people. I have alot of hair and have had very, very bad experiences where I thought to myself, I'll never find a quality cut but after I met Tonantzin I now know that I'll have that healthy hair I've always wanted. I have been twice & both experiences at Salon Pure have been great! From the gracious receptionist, Emily, to the talented stylists that I have worked with, Scott, Tonantzin & Judy...everyone has been wonderful. (Emily takes extra time to massage your scalp while shampooing...I swear I almost fell asleep twice!) :) My hair color (ala Judy and Tonantzin) has been a great success both times and I love the way my hair looks after Scott has had his way with the scissors! I would definitely recommend this place to anyone. Great customer service...great energy...beautiful space. Thank you Salon Pure... so glad to have a quality local salon in Downtown!! more

I went into Pure with a horrible haircut I had gotten elsewhere. I was nearly in tears. As soon as I walked in the staff turned their attention to me while I explained what had happened. They were all so kind and sympathetic. Scott immediately started looking me over and explaining what he'd have to do to fix it. He was meticulous and I knew I was in good hands. You can't even tell that someone butchered by hair. It's the cut I would have wanted in the first place. Thanks again to Salon Pure! You guys are great....you made my week! I had my hair done by Tonantzin last week and she did a incredible job! I have had so many compliments on my hair, and Im passing out her cards like crazy! I had my hair styled by Tonantzin and she did a wonderful job. Less expensive than the pricier spots in LA, but very personalized service and a great outcome. She colored and cut my hair and really listened to what I wanted. I got a nice little scalp massage too which was a treat. She also took her time and cared that I liked the results. Nice job. Pros: Nice, down-to-earth atmosphere, great staff and a good haricut/color. Cons: Parking is horrid. more

This was the best experience at a salon I have ever had. I have never written a review before but felt I needed to let others know what an exceptional place this was. The staff was friendly and inviting (which is rare for Los Angeles) the salon was clean and well decorated, everything about it was perfect. I love my hair cut and my eyebrows look great! I'm always a bit scared of going to get my hair cut. It seems as if I can never really articulate what I want. However, once I walked into Salon Pure all fears were gone. Scott my hair stylist pretty much got what I wanted without me having to say much of anything. I have to say that I have never seen anyone work in such a meticulous and skillful manner. I ended up with the best haircut ever! My haircut even convinced my aunt to go to Scott. This is a feat in itself since my aunt has refused to go to any hair stylist for over 5 years. Obviously, her haircut turned out to be amazing as well. If you want a guaranteed awesome haircut I would definitely call Salon Pure for an appointment with Scott. more

Tonantzin is so amazing!! She has taken me from black to blonde and back to black and most recently at SalonPure she has taken me to red. I always love my hair and rarely have to say a thing about what I want. She just knows what to do to make me look great, but more importantly feel beautiful. Everyone I have sent to her there has walked away with an extra bounce in their step feeling the most beautiful they have ever felt and looked more stunning than ever. One of these days I know she will be too important in the business to do my hair herself so I suggest while she is still working in a salon you take advantage of it!! Not to mention that the salon itself is so great. The location helps a girl from Hollywood like me experience something different and gives me an excuse to explore the new up and coming location in Los Angeles, which is downtown! more

The vibe of the salon is amazing! Decor is fabulous, music is fabulous, the salon assistant David is fabulous and Judy is PHENOMENAL! I've been terrified to try anywhere new since three tragic visits to other well-reputed salons around LA, so I've been flying 3 hours to go back to my hometown to a Schwarzkopf certified stylist I've been seeing for 10 years. But, alas, my dear stylist a 3-hour plane ride away is no longer needed because I've found JUDY at Salon Pure! (Also well-versed in Schwarzkopf. which to anyone who isn't familiar with that name should know equates to color brilliance and know-how.) I've got surprisingly hard-to-color-hair, but Judy didn't flinch at it! She has the ability to do what many are unable to do: make a girl with brown eyebrows look like a natural blonde -- if you desire, as I did, she will apply the finest, most precise and natural appearing highlights you have ever seen and you don't leave this salon with roots (you know what I mean, when you get a highlight touch-up and the new starts about a quarter inch from the root) -- not here! Judy lifts the color from the root without causing bleeding to nearby roots and compromising the look -- serious talent. AND!!!!! 15% off to first time visits! Prices are totally reasonable to begin with (actual WAY underpriced given the level of talent, but shh, don't tell, I prefer to tip the talent than to pay the salon), but the 15% off makes your fist visit crazy affordable! And even better (and quite refreshing for the service industry in So Cal), they aren't going to try to pressure upsell you on ish you don't need! I went in for a full highlight, fully prepared to pay big bucks, but Judy studied my hair before starting and instead recommended a partial -- generally, I'm not a fan of partials since I pull it back a ton, but she did a highlight around the perimeter so I can pull it back and no one knows but me -- seriously looking out for MY interest, not her own - Someone I now totally trust! Pros: TALENT! Atmosphere, Staff, Price Cons: None! more

This was the best hair cut I have had in a really long time. The color was awesome too! It looks really natural and was exactly what I said I wanted. I had Tonanzin and she was GREAT. I go to school downtown and hadn't gotten my hair cut or colored in LA since I moved out here. I was very happy with my decision to go to Salon Pure. Living Downtown has been so great except for the fact my hair always looked shitty...Until recently. When walking my dog, I noticed a good looking man smoking outside on 6th St. I later came to find out his name was Rick and he's the owner of Salon Pure. He noticed my need for a good style and had me go see Scottie Scanlon. After the initial consultation, I knew I was not only in for a new look, but a new friend as well. After my appointment the following day, I left one very happy customer. My hair looks fabulous but more importantly, or maybe equally so, my experience there was great. The innovative interior is one of a kind along with the staff. Give it a walk by atleast to hear good music playing from the speakers and see fresh art on the walls. Tell Scottie you love him and Rick that he should stay at SB. I recommend this salon to all. Pros: Talent, people, interior, music, friendliness, fun. Cons: You probably shouldn't show up every day just to hang out. more

Salon Pure is a downtown gem. From the moment you walk in, you can't help but feel incredibly comfortable and welcome. The space is elegant, yet cozy, no pretention here. The owner, Tonantzin, is hip, funny, and knows her stuff! I have the unfortunate luck of a few greys creeping into my world and into a head of red hair I'd rather not give up just yet. Toni maintains my mane and is constantly educating me on how to take better care of my locks. She rocks and if you haven't been to Salon Pure go now. If not for the wonderful service and amazing care, then do it for the free wine. more

Erika cut and colored my hair. She did an amazing job. She also gave me great tips on how to manage my hair in between salon visits. The customer service was great and everyone was really nice.
