Straight Up Great 2/24/2012

Oh sure, there are moving companies with ""credentials"" (from industry associations they pay) and ""contracts"" (that no lawyer can enforce.) Getting straightforward estimates from them gave me heartburn. I wanted help to move at my convenience, in my budget and without a lot of BS Two Guys Moving was great. Friendly. Courteous. Flexible. Plus they have an A+ rating with BBB. That ought to tell you something. Highly recommend. more

Totally unprofessional 12/27/2011

I would never move with Two Guys Moving again, but they might be the right fit for you if you have cheap stuff that just needs to get quickly thrown into some boxes and transported somewhere. I've moved 6 times over the last 10 years, and I've always gone with the ""big guys"" (Atlas, United Van Lines, etc.), but this time I made the mistake of choosing a local company with no van line credentials. Boy, is there a difference. You have to understand what you are getting yourself into here if you decide to move with these guys. These are not ""professional"" packers or movers... they're just a few friendly guys with a truck who will help shlep your stuff from one location to another. These guys are the equivalent of calling up your friends to help you move your stuff. That is, they'll throw some stuff in some boxes for you (if you request the ""packing"" service), they'll carry your bare furniture onto your truck without protecting it, and then they'll drive it to the new location. I would recommend calling your friends instead. However, these guys might be right for you if: - You are a college kid with low-cost items and are moving into a dorm room. - Your entire furniture collection comes from IKEA. If you are a professional with expensive furniture, or if you expect a high degree of quality and care, these guys are not for you. They also came unprepared. But again, if you're a college kid with a few $100 IKEA desks, you should consider calling these guys. They asked me several times if my furniture items were from IKEA while shaking the items, and I was like, ""Um, no, that is a $3,000 bookshelf that you are shaking back & forth."" I honestly don't think these guys have ever seen high-quality furniture before. They're certainly not trained on how to protect it, disassemble it, or handle it. I had several problems with this move. In a nutshell, they were unprofessional (showed up late & didn't even know the 2 destination addresses), unprepared (they asked ME if I had packing materials since they didn't have enough... they ended up using my bathroom towels to protect my dishes), they were sloppy (they didn't wrap any of my expensive furniture like my $2,000 dresser or even bother taking the clothes out of the dresser... they just carried the furniture bare into the truck with the dresser drawers sliding open while they were carrying them and I had to run behind them to close the dresser drawers. Same thing with my expensive mattress & box spring... they just packed them bare into the truck, and they both arrived ripped on 2 corners!! Now I have a ripped mattress & box spring), they didn't pack my items properly (just threw office stuff & clothes into boxes with no protection -- they didn't even bring the tall wardrobe boxes, they brought the small ones so all of my long trenchcoats & sportjackets arrived completely wrinkled on the bottom halves; plus, 2 of my wine glasses arrived broken and 2 of my glass picture frames arrived broken), they didn't take proper care when handling my $4,000 wooden bed frame (which now has cracked wood underneath because they refused to disassemble it properly) or my expensive paintings (some of which have chipped frames). I just found 3 pairs of $200 Italian leather dress shoes completely FLATTENED because they packed them at the very bottom of a box which was filled with books. REALLY?! You're going to put gorgeous leather dress shoes underneath 40 pounds of books? Same thing with my expensive leather belts... completely twisted out of shape because they were carelessly thrown in at the bottom of a box of boxes. These guys are just terrible! If you are a true professional with high-quality furniture and high-quality belongings, go with the big guys... the ones who really know what they're doing. If you're a college kid with disposable stuff that you're going to discard at the end of the school year anyway, then consider these guys. more
