I was admitted to TTTC April 11, 1984 while intoxicated. I've not had a drink since. I'm not a resident of MN and haven't been to TTTC since I left in May of 1984. At the time I was there, the facility was small enough that one really couldn't ""hide"" and escape being treated. At that time every employee at TTTC, including the doctor who came to the facility, were all either abstinent alcoholics/drug users or Al Anon people. Making the statement, ""You don't know what it's like"" was therefore impossible to use. Anyone caught using was discharged immediately and everyone was informed by staff, not hearsay, exactly why the individual was discharged. I did what I was told to do, for the first time in my life, and while I was not ""comfortable"" there, they're obviously doing something right or I wouldn't have nearly 30 years of abstinence in.
