Expensive and Slow Service 5/28/2011

The food at the Chop House is pretty good, but not worth the price and the slow service. You'd think that a ""nice"" restaurant would have good service, but not here. more

would not return 11/22/2008

Went with group of 9 for work, somewhat slow service, but to be far someone was giving a work presentation so waiter didn't want to interrupt. Got the small fillet mignon, with the crab she soup. Soup just ok, (salads looked better), and fillet not great though everyone seemed to get the right items cooked as ordered. Key lime pie not good either. Would not return- better places for steak in town. Though the private room off the bar with the fireplace is quite nice. Can seat maybe 12 Pros: atmosphere, private room is nice Cons: Steak just not good, and I like steak-though I'm picky more

Great Experience 7/16/2008

I took a small group of clients to the Chop House on 7/14. Impressive atmosphere and professional greeting as we arrived. The manager was kind enough to give us a private area and walked us to our table personally. The service was excellent! The waiter was very attentive without hovering, was very courteous with our special requests and made the experience incredible. The manager was very pleasant and took the time to speak with us and confirm our satisfaction. A great meal with a perfectly cooked ( and massive) boned ribeye, fantastic soup, and the best Bananas Foster I have had in Winston Salem. The best restaurant in town, hands down. Pros: Service, Manager, Food, Prices were surprisingly reasonable Cons: hard to find more

Hidden in Plain Sight 5/4/2008

The Twin City Chop House constitutes reasonably fine dining for Winston Salem. It is a place that I would bring out of town guests. They have a particular talent with steaks and beef dishes. It takes talent to prepare a well done steak that doesn't turn into a hockey puck and their steaks are succulent, regardless of the level of doneness. The service is spotty; sometimes marvelous, sometimes mediocre. When dinner is great, the meal is a bargain but on those rare occasions that it isn't, you can become embittered. I will return again, however. Pros: Interesting Menu Cons: It is difficult to find more

Impressive and memorable 12/29/2007

Unparalleled service! The place to go for a special occasion or any occasion, at The Chop House you will really feel like a VIP. From the friendly greeting at the valet desk, the personal welcome at reception to the discreet and professional service from the wait staff - there is no finer place to dine in the Triad. Pros: Food, service and value Cons: Salads that make ordering an appetizer redundant. Desserts too good to resist and too large for comfort even when shared. more

great customer service 12/4/2007

To those viewers that made that comment about you all being over rated and the food being not so good, they should try Ruth Chris, (the prices), they would really cry. Must have been their first experience in the fine dining. You all are the best yet in the fine dining, just my opinion, and everyone is entitled. They need to know that fine dining is for fine diners. Thanks Pros: I love to be catered to, park my car more

Beautifull 6/20/2007

Oh my, what a beautifull place. The signs can be a little confusing so it is difficult to find but the food is great. It is one of the best places I have been and is a very freindly place. I would not reccomend kids because of the high class atmosphere. You shouldnt come here and expect to pay like your at Applebees, this is a high end restaurant. So if your just looking for a night out, go somewhere else. This is a restaurant for occasions. Pros: Food more

Don't Waste your money..... 8/10/2006

Overpriced, hard to find. How this place stays in business is beyond me. The half the catfish was undercooked the other half overcooked. One of our party ordered the Cheesesteak and half of it was burned. Customer service was ok, but for what they charge here the food should be a lot better. Pros: Service Cons: Food Quality, Price more

Great Steaks and Service 6/12/2006

I took my wife out for our anniversary to the Chop House on a reccomendation from a friend. We were seated promptly and our waiter,Jeff, was at the table almost instantly. Very polite and knowledgable. He was also helpful with the menu since it was our first time dining at the Chop House. The Crab Soup was great. The steak was undercooked a bit initially but I was hesitant to send it back. A manager ,Steve, must have noticed my delay and came to the table. His manner quickly put me at ease and he apologized for the inconvienence and returned with my steak ,now correctly cooked, in a prompt manner. It was fantastic. I explained to him that it was our anniversary and I saw him speaking to our waiter and we were surprised with a complimentary glass of champagne and told ""happy anniversary"" from the Chop House. The dining room was very attractive and had a great ambiance. Very intimate. Customer service was very good. Everyone was polite and the food was great. We will definitely go back to the Chop House. Pros: Great staff, excellent flavor in the steak and crab soup Cons: Hard to find if you have not been there more

User review by asmithstowe 3/15/2006

One thing that I thought needed improvement was in the service. The waiter twice brough incorrect dishes that had close names, showing that he indeed didn't really listen to his customers. An example was in our oysters. We ordered RAW and we were served Oysters RAWckefeller! Also, the salad bar has got to go. Restaurants of this class ala Ruths Chris, shouldn't have a self-serve feature such as this. Besides, the salad bar was in a very cramped area, and guests lined up around a nearby table. Also, the utensils handles leaned into other food items. Just a bad set-up for a salad bar. Just do a house salad with dressing selection like other restaurants of your caliber! It's enough to make me go elsewhere. Pros: superb she-crab soup, nice wine selection, excellent beef Cons: salad bar - WHY?, furniture wear/tear, service more
