It's alright but still needs work 10/8/2009

Had last played this course right after the new owners took over a few years ago and it was damn near awful. I took it into account that they were going to turn it around. Well they have a little. The fairways and green were in so much better shape...BUT...they still need to redo the sand traps on every hole. Impossible to play out of....Not soft type sand that golfers prefer but HARD surface sand. Landed in a few traps over the day and just had to call it ""ground under repair"".\r Also, just mainly for looks...They really need to skim the lakes to get the gunk off the surface. Just looked awful and pretty junky.\r Would play again but not a regular basis by any means. Pros: Pretty good value, Fairways & Greens in Good shape Cons: Lakes and Sand traps need major attention more

Scammers attempt to save business with fraudulent acts. 7/10/2009

This is, hand’s down, the absolute worst place I've ever played. Let me preface this by saying I wouldn't have even played there if I didn't have a coupon for 18 holes cart fee only. First of all under course info, they need to state that the fairways and greens are actually made of crab grass, weeds, fungus (multiple varieties), rocks and unknown materials that have been painted green. Next if the actual course is this pitiful, you can only imagine what shape the golf carts and maintenance equipment must be in. I was crossing a road that was in between holes and the plexi-glass window fell off the cart and in to the road. I picked up the window placed it in the seat next to me and finished my 18, followed by a practice bucket at the range. I returned the cart as it had been given to me except with the plexi-glass in the seat of the cart, told the kid at the cart barn what had happened and was on my way. No big deal...replace a couple screws and you're good to go. NOT HARDLY!!! When I got home I had 3 messages that there had been major damage to the cart I used. The caller stated, “the cart had obviously been rolled and that I must have been the one to do it. The frame was bent and side was scratched up and he needed my info to satisfy the cost of the repairs, whatever that may be.” He was very rude and condescending. He asked me my age, which I told him I was 30, and he quickly followed it up with, ""what do you still live with your parents"" comment which I guess was an attempt to belittle and demean me. He said he'd have his attorney contact me, which is fine since I didn't roll his golf cart. (I'll be taking a lie detector test, whatever the cost, if I hear any more about this incident since I was golfing alone and obviously have no eyewitnesses.) Needless to say I wasn't aware that when the coupon read ""Free greens fee with the purchase of cart rental for 18 holes,” that I would try to be charged for the actual cost of a golf cart and not just the rental. In conclusion, if you have the itch to throw away some money and waste four hours of your life on a billy goat farm, just make sure you take pictures of your golf cart before and after your round just in case they feel you are a good target to ransack. I will be placing similiar reviews every where I can, and telling everyone I know of the guile scam that I fell victim to. I feel people deserve a fair warning about the dishonesty and corrupt deceitfulness of how this place conducts business. I will never know whether the person who was so disrespectful to me on the phone was the dishonest person or if he really believed what he was saying to be true. Regardless, it was no way to deal with the consumer that keeps there business open. Pros: There are none Cons: Everything about this place reeks!!! more

Dont make the trip 5/20/2009

played today and let me just say, this was the worst placed I have ever played. Fairways where like the worst shape , hard and very very dry. Greens where also like horrible, slow and growing some fungus like stuff I dont think was of this earth. Go else where save your money. 28.00 for a twilight, they should pay us to play. and 40.00 for days PLEASE help yourself play at Windtree or Long Hollow -- Pros: Nice club house Cons: Greens, Fairways -- you name it more

Your own personal golf course 9/25/2006

I LOVE TWELVE STONES!!! My wife and I have been playing there for about 18 months. We finally joined in July and we couldn't be happier. There has been tons of work completed on the course and it gets better every month.\r \r No big crowds means you almost never feel pushed. The owners treat you like family and are always on site and ready to be of assistance.\r \r Beautiful scenery from start to finish. Lots of high dollar homes to see and dream of owning between shots. Even the kids that work the cart cleanup and empty the trash are as polite as any you will ever find.\r \r No snooty SOB's playing in front of you that think they're Tiger Woods and holding up the rest of the world while they work a slide rule to line up a friggin 3 foot putt.\r \r Joshua's Resturant has great food (NOT just burgers and dogs) and the Sunday Brunch will stuff you to the point you can't see the golf ball on the tee when you look down. They have the best Ruben Sandwich and sweet potato fries I've ever had.\r \r I hesitate to write this review because I don't want the place to ever get as crowded as other places I've played. But these are good people and I want to do my part to help them run a successful business.\r \r If you are in the Goodlettsville/Hendersonville area and have not been here, you're making a big mistake. Be sure to ask about the membership special they are running now (today is 09-26-2006) You don't want to miss it.\r \r I've played Spring House, Country Hills, Long Hollow, and a few others in the Nashville area. I seriously prefer Twelve Stones and I'm proud to call this my home course. I'm there every chance I get. Pros: Challenging holes. Beautiful scenery. Great owners. Great food. Cons: Water is a factor at some point on every hole. SPLASH!!! more

Great golf value 7/4/2006

I have golfed at Twelve Stones Crossing since the opening in spring 1999. I have seen the course through great times, good times and dog days for a couple of years up until a little over a year ago when the new owners took over. They have put money, time, knowledge and hard work into trying to bring the course back to a great condition. The bunkers are repaired, the greens have improved, the range and putting green are in great condition, there's new clean carts. Food service is now tops -- great lunches during week, wonderful brunch on Sunday!!! $32 or $42 or $20 senior green fees is NOT overpriced. If you like a challenge course, this is for you! Pros: Elevations, club house, parking Cons: elevations, got to play smart golf -- more people are finding the course more

Great golf value 7/4/2006

I've been playing 12 Stones Crossing since the grand opening day in March 99....it's had it good days, great days and until a year or so ago -- it's dog days. BUT, NOW IT'S BACK to the almost great days!! This past year has been hard work for the new owners to get the bunkers in shape, the greens in good condition, solve the water problem -- a few more months and the course will be in great shape. The food service for lunch everyday and Sunday brunch is wonderful! If $32 or $42 or $20 for seniors is overpriced....you must have been playing cow pastures. Pros: If you are a golfer, wanting a challenge--you'll love it. Foods great, new clean carts Cons: Some hills, some tricky greens more

12 stones - turning about 6/25/2006

This course continues to improve with time. The new owners are making good progress and with this update I will say it is a good buy for the money. It is one of the more challenging courses in the North Eastern Nashville Area. I hesitate to boast about it too much because it is still one of the few courses you can get on to play in short order even when the weather is good. Pros: Long course, great practice area, nice Club House, great Sunday brunch buffet. Cons: The course is not yet at its peak but is recovering nicely more

12 Stones Goat Ranch 4/22/2005

I know they have had their own financial difficulties but there is no excuse for the condition of the course. Pitiful. Greens terrible, grass uncut, a mower was parked on the green! Apparently they do not have a maintenance staff. Could be nice but $42 for this goat ranch? I don't think so! Many, many other better places to play. more
