Editorial review from Citysearch 1/30/2014

Best care beyond delivery!! After moving back to Oklahoma 15 years ago, I'd already given birth to two amazing children back in Missouri, but I still needed to take care of ME!! I feel so blessed to have Dr. Nilson on my team as an amazing health care provider! He has kept a close eye on me through the years and been very attentive to the changes of my body. I needed to have a hysterectomy & Dr Nilson was wonderful & kind during the whole process. He helped put my husband at ease with his humor and wonderful bedside manor. I feel my health and the future of my health are in amazing hands! more

Best delivery! 3/17/2012

Dr. Nilson delivered both of my daughters. Both deliveries were great and without complications. My threshold for pain is very low so when I tell you that we induced my second daughter yesterday and I felt no pain I mean I felt NO pain. I was able to enjoy the experience of delivery this time and it was amazing. more

Dr. Nilson best OB/GYN in town! 2/27/2012

I have been going to Dr. Nilson for over 15 years now and I would not go anywhere else. I had complicated pregnancies before going to him, and after changing to Dr. Nilson, I had the best care I have ever had! Not only was he very compassionate when I had a miscarriage, he kept me calm with his great sense of humor when I would start to worry about anything. I have had to wait to see him on occasion, but he is worth the wait! I have referred over 50 people to him, all who were thrilled with their care! I highly recommend him to everyone, and I am not the only one, he was voted by US NEWS as one of the Top Doctors in Tulsa! Considering the amount of OBs in Tulsa, that alone should tell you, that you are in excellent hands! more

Dr. Nilson saved my son's life 2/27/2012

I want to tell others about how Dr. Nilson went above and beyond for my family and I. Several years ago, my wife went to Dr Nilson for a routine checkup visit when she was pregnant with my first son. He mentioned to her to be sure and call him if she didn't feel the baby move or if anything didn't feel right. A few days later, my wife felt like my son wasn't moving like he usually did so she called Dr. Nilson. He advised her to go to the hospital immediately. Within 20 minutes of arrival, Dr. Nilson and Dr. Williamson were both there and performed an emergency c-section. Good thing he was so responsive and cared enough to put aside whatever he was doing with his family that evening. Turns out, my son has his cord around his neck 6 times and the cord was in a true knot. So, there may be others out there posting reviews who are more interested in petty things like how the receptionist places you on hold for too long, or how he makes too many jokes, but I can say that Dr. Nilson saved my son's life! I would recommend Dr. Nilson and his office simply because he is a good doctor who cares. more

Dr. Nilson is crude and uncaring. 2/9/2012

I was having infertility issues and was referred to Dr. Nilson. He thinks of himself as a fertility doctor but has no special training in endocrinology. He was condescending about my miscarriage. His nurse lied about me and said I cussed at her, and without even consulting me about it, I was discharged from his care per letter in the mail. I was heartbroken because I THOUGHT he was my only chance of figuring out why I couldn't get pregnant. I called his office and talked with the manager. I tried explaining that I never said anything rude to his nurse, but she wouldn't listen. Apparently, Dr. Nilson just said to discharge me and that was that. I wrote him a respectful letter telling him how hurtful his office and his behavior was. He never responded. Later on, my OB/GYN figured out that all I needed was to be on birth control for a couple of months to reset my cycle and JUST LIKE THAT I was pregnant. The great Cole Nilson couldn't figure that out?!? He wanted me spending lots of money doing ultrasounds at his office and taking fertility drugs. \r \r P.S. - I have heard about him telling a very attractive young lady that he, ""will have trouble seeing her as a patient."" Ewww! more

Not as good as everyone says!!! 1/6/2012

Dr Nilson was a horrible choice for me! Everything is a joke to him... but nothing is funny...only uncomfortable. He was completely rushed and took no time to explain things to my husband and I. As first time parents you would think a doctor would understand you have questions and concerns... he didn't. He preformed a vaginal exam where he left the door open while I was spread eagle on the table! He then reaches OVER me to close it! It was extremely uncomfortable and I left crying! I would not recommend him to anyone who wants to have a calm doctor or someone who wants their questions answered! more

poor service if something goes wrong 12/19/2011

Saw Dr. Nilson. He is an excellent doctor as far as skill, but his bedside manner is lacking. He is rushed with patient care and interacts with a hint of a condescending attitude that he plays off in jokes. He really is an excellent OB as far as delivery if you can get past personality. The single star rating is actually due to the staff (not the nurses, they are great). Questions are rarely answered and I was onced placed on hold for 30 minutes for a simple question and then when someone did pick up the phone I was informed that the person I was holding for had left for the day (I had ""just missed her, she stepped out about 5 minutes ago""....interesting b/c I was on hold for 30). more

Dr. Nilson is one of the GREATEST OBGYN'S 11/2/2011

I just wanted to say that this Dr's office is amazing. I have two children and they were both delivered by Dr. Nilson. He is a wonderful OBGYN. He always was very helpful with any questions I had. He was very friendly and funny. When it came time to deliver he was very serious and took wonderful care of my children and I. I would recommend him to anyone and everyone who is expecting. A phenominal doctor. more

Dr Nilson is Absolutely Incredible!!! 5/22/2010

1st..im not sure why people are getting so upset over wait times!? having over 20 appts with him, i have never had to wait for over an hour. his wait times are as average as any other doctor. if you want the best, he is worth the wait!! :)\r VERY CONVENIENT! while the wait times may be a con to people, most everything you will need is on site! dr nilson does a 4D ultrasound, giving you a pic of your baby EVERY visit. it is so reassuring to see our beautiful bundle EVERY visit!\r because he does ultrasounds every visit, we found out the sex of each of our babies at 14 & 17 weeks! baby girl was bashful @ 14wks, so doc let us come in 3wks later, rather than waiting four, so we could find out :) (so if ur worried about wait times...u dont have to wait til 20wks to find out the sex..like most docs)\r because he has this awesome equipment on site, patients are able to have 4D ultrasounds & videos of their babies done! you can meet with the u/s techs at like 32-36 wks!! for about $200, we got a 30 minute video of our son, with sound..which was his heartbeat!! it is indescribable how awesome the video is, & what it means to have it. we also recieved about 20-25 pics of him in 4D! AWESOME!!! we plan to have the same done with our daughter =D\r Dr Nilsons office also has an on site lab!! so all of your blood work & glucose testing is done there, which is awesome!\r also, i have been able to take my closest friends & family throughout my appts. they all leave saying how personable Nilson is, & just how wonderful the experience, he, & his staff were :) ***my husband & 10yr old sister tagged along to the last appt, when we found out !ITS A GIRL!, Nilson gave each of us a picture to take & show off. my sister was especially on cloud 9 :) \r DELIVERY...dr nilson was actually going to be on vacation the week that our son, Brandt, was born. i was truly devastated! he agreed to induce before he left...we had a happy, healthy, bouncing baby boy! he weighed 9lbs 4oz & was 9 days early!! lol. im so glad that everything worked out for us to have dr nilson do the delivery...he made it a comfortable, incredible experience. I was crying my eyes out with excitement & over joy while in the last stage of delivery..he took that & made me feel even more wonderful about the experience. he kept telling me how lucky our baby was to have parents who loved him so much already :) of course, my husband was amazing about evything too :)\r i have reccommended him to all of my friends & family..EVERYone loves him!!\r every woman deserves such extra-special care, attention, & support thru her pregnacy...best wishes for all!! Pros: EVERYTHING more

Love Dr. Coleman 3/22/2010

I started out with an appointment with Dr. Nielson but started bleeding and was unable to get into see him. Dr. Coleman was able to see me. I ended up staying with Dr. Coleman thru my whole pregnancy and it was the best decision I ever made. He made sure to answer any questions I had at each visit and Loralei is the best. The entire staff there is wonderful and I recommend Dr. Coleman to all of my friends. more

LOVE MY DOCTOR, BUT LOVE FRONT STAFF TOO.. 2/4/2010

Ok, I love my love, but part of the whole appointment is dealing with the girls in the office, I was just told Katie is gone!! Where did she go? That place was great because she always made me feel great!! Katie you will be missed.. more

Awesome Doctor!! 11/1/2009

I made an appointment with my original doctor (not Dr. Nilson) when I found out I was pregnant for the second time. A week before my appointment I started bleeding and my doctors office wouldn't let me come in early. I was told ""Honey, you just need to go check yourself into the emergency room."" I called Dr. Nilson's office and they got me in THE SAME DAY! I did end up having a miscarriage and Dr.Nilson did the D&C. He was very through and calmly explained everything to me. He also took the time to explain it was not my fault (which is nice to hear.) I am currently pregnant again and am very proud to say I am going to Dr. Nilson and not Dr.Cox. If anybody is looking for a great doctor that takes his time (did not rush) Dr. Nilson was great for our family!....lets face it-doctors aren't there to have tea and eat cookies with us. They are there to do the best job they can. I have no complaints! more

Lets get serious here... 10/1/2009

I had an extremely high risk pregnancy and was under Dr. Nilsons care. He never took the time to address any of my concerns, I had to practically beg him to put me on something to help stop contractions. He did not do the proper bloodwork or monitoring for my pregnancy. He rushed through apts. At my 6 week check up he didnt even look at my incision, didn't do a pap or pelvic even though I told him I had a knot with pain behind my incision and these ARE necessary after child birth, now I have to find another ob/gyn to look at my incision and do a pap because you apparently can not depend on him to give you what you NEED. He has a good personality, but he is absolutely no where near the best. I think most people give him good reviews because he gives an u/s at each prenatal apt. and he is very... goofy. If you want someone that you can and SHOULD feel safe with, go elsewhere. I would recommend Dr. Williamson in the same office. Pros: Office staff is great Cons: Rushed, does not listen to concerns more

Dr. Nilson Rocks! 6/25/2009

Dr. Nilson is the best! My husband jokes that I became pregnant again after our first daughter was 2 yrs old b/c I missed my visits with Dr. Nilson! After a horrible pregnancy/labor with my now 15 yr old, I was more than hesitant to give birth again. A friend recommended Dr. Nilson and we now have a 3 yr old and 1 yr old daughter. He made my pregnancies bearable and most importantly my labors were wonderful and he was in attendance for both! HE IS THE BEST! Pros: My 3rd child is here because of Dr. Nilson! Cons: He doesn't have a midtown location. more

Dr.Coleman rocks 5/18/2009

Dr Coleman is a wonderful doctor! He delivered our first child and made the experience better by being caring and understanding! I recommend him to everyone I meet! :) more

rushed 4/22/2009

I really liked Dr. Nilson and his staff, however, I always seemed to leave there feeling like ""what just happend?"" Dr. Nilson never writes anything down, and just seems to be rushed, my visits last a whole 5 to 10 minutes with Dr. Nilson, and that includes the ultrasounds he gives. He doesn't even take the time to explain things in the ultrasound. Like I said before, I end up leaving there with more questions then I came with. He is a good doctor if you want a doctor that acts more like your brother than a doctor. Pros: nice doctor and stafff Cons: feel rushed more

Wouldn't go any place else 4/8/2009

After my second child I was told about Dr. Nilson and how wonderful he was. When we started trying for our 3rd I switched over to him and absolutely adored him. I have 5 of my friends now going to him and they all are very happy too. He is quite the character, makes you feel comfortable, he even sang to me while he was delivering my 3rd son by c-section. It completely put me at ease and calmed my fears even though I had been through it twice before. I love that guy and will never go anywhere else. Pros: staff, doctors, clean Cons: wait time more

Never a number here! 10/12/2008

My husband and I moved here 18 months ago. We had been trying to have our 2nd baby for almost 3 yrs. Our son was turning 6 and now praying for a sibling himself. I felt we had been patient and exhausted all of our resources (ovul pred. kits, etc) Being new to Tulsa, I asked around for ob/gyn recommendations. Being told that I would just ""love Dr. Nilson"", I made an appt. I dread the yearly rolling around mostly due to my bad case of modesty and I was not looking forward to this appt. Once Dr Nilson listened to us, he began to aggressively identify our issues. Finding that we had a pretty significant problem, he wasted no time in laying out our options before us. We were confident that he was not wasting our time, our money or trampling our emotions. In fact, he kept our hopes high and my insane level of nervousness and modesty at a more than tolerable level. He's positive ALL THE TIME, not admitting defeat or letting you feel defeated until he's sure of the result. He's absolutely hilarious, but so real and easy to talk things over with. He honestly makes you feel that you're 1 of 10 patients instead of 1 of 1000's. Stevie and Hailey are fantastic. They're sweet, knowledgeable and kind. You feel like your sister's in the room! I'm not sure I've ever been in another environment where they worked so hard to make you feel cared for. Dr. Nilson immediately gains your trust and it only builds after that. My journey is not over. I am not sure of our next step. I do know that if I ever get to hear the words, ""you are going to have a baby"" again, I only want to hear them from Dr. Nilson himself! He is an amazing doctor whom I would recommend no matter what your ob/gyn needs. I also don't get the hubbub about wait times, I have never experienced an extended wait. (but who cares if you do, if you want the best, sometimes you have to wait for it!) I know that I was in the best of hands each time I walked into that office! Pros: Friendly staff and environment, Quality of care, Trust of Doctor more

Best in Tulsa 6/29/2008

Dr. Nilson is technically wonderful, but so easy to talk to and he listens to what his patients want. Just had my second baby and had a great experience. Although Dr. Nilson has a crazy and hyper personality, he knows when to be serious. He got me emotionally through fertility and miscarriage issues and he seems to really understand women's emotional states. I would not trust anyone else with my healthcare. Pros: Funny, Compassionate, Superior technical skills, personable Cons: Waiting time more
