Incident:
Friday night, May 20th, I called into True Colors to ask about their spray tans. I talked to a lady who told me everything about exfoliating, about waiting to shower, how much everything cost, etc. I thought it was a great deal, even though I was happy with Sun Tan City’s sprays before, I would try this because of the price.
The morning of May 21st I woke up around 9am, took a shower, exfoliated very well with exfoliating gloves like I have done before to get a spray tan at Sun Tan City. I should have just went to Sun Tan City since they have done well in the past, but i thought True Colors had a better deal.
After exfoliating, I did not put on any lotion or makeup. I then went to get a pedicure at the salon, There was minimal oil left on my lower legs and feet. This is the only area that had any kind of oil or lotion. I carefully wiped down my legs first with a baby wipe and then with a towelette Dawn had sold me, she said this would take care of it. Again, this was only on my lower legs and feet. This was one of the areas that the spray tan did not get very well, but the MAIN PROBLEM like I told the representative was with my face that was so splotchy, and my neck, arms, and feet were rust color, and had very uneven color. I looked like I had a disease, and everyone I passed laughed at the way it looked.
Dawn Long sold me a spray tan along with the accelerator lotion, and towelette to wipe my legs, and also the triple boost so I would have color within 4 hours. After about an hour, I started getting very itchy and looked into the mirror. I noticed splotchiness, and uneven color everywhere on my face and on my arms and legs. Dawn never gave me a receipt of my purchase, only the VIP contract receipt. She said everything was in the system I didn’t need a receipt. My total was $27 and some change. It was a prorated amount, like $17 for the VIP and two other packets were 20%off, including the accelerator and towelette to wipe my legs with.
I went back into the salon, an hour and a half after i received the spray, and showed a sales person my tan. She said her boss was in a tanning bed at the time and she would be about 15 minutes. I didn’t stay to talk to Dawn, since i had to try and scrub off the horrible spray tan I had received and had to be ready for a graduation party in 3 hours.
She said she would take care of it. By taking care of it, she told her manager about it, and they went ahead and took my card out of the system and cancelled the contract. She said to come in Monday to get a refund, since she didn’t know how to do one.
I went in Monday to get the refund, and the lady at the desk stated that they did not do ANY REFUNDS and I would have to call corporate, because they do not handle those. I was not impressed, since that is bad business. She said to contact corporate, which I called and have phone records of 4 days in a row, and left voicemails everyday. Not one person answered the phone during the week. This seems odd to me, that there are no secretaries or people that handle these “refunds”. They never returned my calls. Then I call on Friday, May 27th, and they say it is my fault that i didn't exfoliate my legs properly. How can they tell me I didn't exfoliate my legs? I did the morning of, and that is BAD BUSINESS. DO NOT GO THERE!! It is not worth it, just go to Sun Tan City and save the trouble please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
