Best

Amazing drinks and best enchiladas I've ever had, Only had bad service once, and it was a large table. I think he knew that he was getting his 18% gratuity and was being an ass j...

Worst

Honestly, I cannot think of a time that I went to Trudy's without a Mexican Martini on my mind. The food and the customer service were definitely not the things that brought me in...

Best Mexican Martini 1/5/2007

Yummy, yummy, yummy! What else can I say?! Trudy's definitely has a great Mexican Martini! If you haven't had one yet...what are you waiting for? Highly recommended! Pros: Great food and beverages Cons: sometimes there can be a long wait more

Austin Tex-Mex 11/20/2006

This is definitely an Austin jewel that is located in close to campus, so expect a large UT student and alumni crowd. Trudy's offers a bar side for those that just want to order a few things, kick back, and enjoy some mexican martinis. Also, Trudys has it's main restaurant area where they offer some good tex-mex with dishes (my favorite) like stuffed avocado, hondo burrito, and chille relleno... all with suiza sauce. Trudy's is definitely a locals hot spot, and will probably continue to be for a long time. Pros: Great place to hang out and eat with some cool people Cons: Parking can be limited and it can get crowded more

austiny 11/18/2006

if you live in austin and are showing people around and they want something austiny, bring them here. mexi martinis are a must for some birthday dinner in your life. good student and alum crowd. downstairs bar, great ambience- the most patient waitstaff you will ever experience.\r \r great enchiladas! Pros: mexican martinis Cons: can get pretty crowded more

Chicken Flaquities and Mexican Martinis 11/12/2006

For years, this has been a favorite location for people watchin on campus, for Happy Hour and debatably the best Mexican Martinis in town. recently though, I learned they have breakfast and tried some other items on the menu. my fav is the Southern Style Chicken Breast with garlic and cheese mash potatoes. bring your appetite. more

2 words: Mexican Martini 10/20/2006

Great food! Great drinks!! The stuffed avacado and the mexican martini are a perfect combination. A popular among UT students. Pros: Mexican Martini Cons: Seating more

Fun atmosphere, fried avocados, mexican martini, mojitos, fajitas, service, spicy...... 10/3/2006

What's not to love?? Great college-crowd spot. Fried avocados stuffed with chicken..sooooo unbelievably yummy. My mojito was off the charts. The mexican martini was good, although not quite as exotic or exciting as I thought it might be (unlike the mojito). The guac was actually fresh! woohoo...and spicy...amazing. Salsa was so-so (green better than red, which was more like V8...they serve both). Service was fantastic...waiter gave good recommendations, and despite the place being busy, took plenty of time to explain the menu. So much fun and so good. Finding all of this on a Sunday was quite the surprise...had had no intentions of heading downtown, but Trudy's got me going with the drinks and the atmosphere. more

Ditto on the Mexican Martini 8/15/2006

I'd just like to agree with the previous review about the Mexican Martini - bueno! The food is also very good and affordable. One tip - if you're interested in actually being able to talk, wait for a seat in the restaurant. Do not opt for the downstairs bar. I'm not kidding - people literally scream at each other to be heard. I'll definitely go back to Trudy's, but will go when I have time to wait for a seat in the restaurant. Pros: Mexican Martini, Food, Service Cons: Loud! more

MEXICAN MARTINI 7/16/2006

Nothing can best describe this place other than ""mexcian martini"", it's best. I have never had anything like it before. It's an amazing drink which is really a margarita on the rocks, but they spice it up a bit and serve it in a martini glass which is cool and they put in olives too, and they serve the rest in a shaker. I want to tell you it is strong, but nothing over powering or anything like that. Don't waste your money on upgrading it to a stronger liqure the original is just fine. The food is ok, I think next time we may just have drinks and appetizers, the prices are great especially if your on a budget. I can really see why this place is a local favorite, I will definetly return. Pros: astmosphere, drinks, cheap more

Que Bueno!! 8/11/2005

I have two words for you...Fried Avocado!! Yes it sounds strange but let me tell you it is absolutely the best. If you are sensitive to heat this may not be the restaurant for you because most of their food is pretty spicy. I love spicy food but the queso was even too spicy for me and my husband. Other than that it was wonderful! Pros: fried avocado Cons: very spicy queso more

Great Ambience, Great Food, Awesome drinks 6/13/2005

this is the best of all trudys locations .. has great food .. and a great atmosphere .. and the mexican martinis are to die for... if you like spicy food .. try the veggie flaquites .. they are really good .. the queso is good as well.. and so are the fajitas Pros: inexpensive, ambience Cons: crowded more

I LOVE THIS PLACE! 5/15/2005

I've eaten here only once but the experience was so great that I just had to say something! Very rarely isn't it that you can come across a restaurant that has seriously good food and I must recommend their barbecue beef tacos and be sure to put lots of sauce on it. I only had two but they fill you up pretty quick. Everything else was superb and the waitress was really nice, despite the entire place being packed on a Saturday night. Parking is a hassle though so be prepared to have to walk. Pros: Food, College Scene Cons: Parking, Wait Time more

good food at good price. 2/8/2005

I have finally found a good breakfast spot!!! I like a good pancake and I don't want to pay a lot. What cool about this place is that m-f they have half portion breakfast entries. For less than four bucks i can have pancakes, egg, and sauasage. Yum! Where else can i have a mexican martini at 7am. Their migas are so fab and cheesy. Pros: prices, good salsa, friendly staff Cons: parking on weekends more

decidedly average 5/31/2004

A great location and nice atmosphere, but the food is instantly forgettable. Last time I was at Trudy's, it took an hour to be seated despite being told 30 mins. Pros: atmosphere, friendly service Cons: , slow seating more

Close, affordable Tex-Mex 2/15/2004

Very close to UT campus. Parking lot is very tiny, you may have to walk a bit. Food is good, and portions are large. Expect leftovers. Atmosphere and staff are slightly eccentric. Breakfast is also an option. Recommended. Pros: Tasty, Big portions, Inexpensive more

Better than the Best 9/7/2003

I have had some nasty 'ritas in Austin, but NEVER at Trudy's. The quality of the drink and the great service, even while packed to the hilt makes Trudy's a MUST VISIT everytime I am in town. more

Music and more 9/5/2003

I spent the last night of my Austin vacation at Trudy's. Did not eat dinner, but had a snack sampler and a ""Mexican Martini""-- a margarita served in a martini glass accompanied by a shaker full of the concoction. Quite a large portion (no wonder the limit they enforce is 2 per person). I sat of the comfortable sofas while I enjoyed my drink, while listening to both popular and obscure 80s tunes. It was definately a good time! Pros: drinks, music, sofas more

Best margarita value 9/4/2003

Yes, the food is good, but the Mexican Martini - a margarita served in a cocktail shaker - is the best value in town. You can upgrade to ""top shelf"" but why bother when the house blend is smooth and refreshing? more

Mexican Margarita! 5/3/2003

Yeah, you have to try the margarita's! For Tex-Mex, this is one of the best! If you want the best Mexican food, why are you in a city 300 miles away from the border? Visit El Paso and taste the best you'll find anywhere in the world! Pros: Food, Margaritas, Service Cons: Parking, Not Mexican food more

I'm a regular 2/8/2003

My friend Carole and I regularly go to Trudy's for their Mexican Martinis! They are fabulous. Go ahead and get the house tequila and ask for extra olives... it's our favorite to the point I think we have become regulars! Pros: People watching, 30-something people, laid-back atmosphere Cons: Parking, upstairs too smokey more

The very best 12/31/2002

a few years I ate at Trudy's at least 10 times a week. Several of the wait staff and bartenders rented an apartment from me. Gary Truesdale is a good friend. more
