Tru Awakenings Salon And Spa

I would not recommend this salon to anyone. I was scheduled for a facial and received a call an hour prior to my appoint that Whitney had a color mishap and would have to change my appointment to 2:30 or 4pm. I said neither of those times would work for me and I was told they would move me to Kelsey and keep my original appointment time. I showed up 15 minutes prior to my appointment. And after waiting a 1/2 hr I was told that my appointment wasn't until 2:30. This salon is not consider of people time. I was not told on the phone and nor did anyone call me back and tell me. The fact that I show up and not even told when I checked in. The front desk person never the appointment before mine was 90 minutes. She did not want to hear of my frustration and was rude as well. I will NEVER consider this salon!! more

If you have curly hair, you owe it to yourself to go see Tisha Marquart at Tru Awakenings Salon & Spa and get a good haircut. Actually, if you have any hair at all you should see Tisha, but I have curly hair, and I know how difficult it is to get a good haircut. I have visited most of the hair salons in downtown Portland, Hillsboro, and Beaverton, trying to find someone who could cut it well. I have had a million bad cuts, and despaired of ever looking good again. I finally decided that I would give Tisha a try, after my sister recommended her. I had my hair cut there yesterday, and I am *so* glad I gave hair dressers another chance!! My curls are back! First let me say, Tisha is a natural. She understands hair. She spent a lot of time looking at my hair dry to determine how my curls fall, and how much to cut off when it is wet. It's rare to find someone who knows about curly hair, let alone someone who can discuss curl patterns! After Tisha checked out my hair, she went on to ask me a bunch of questions such as how I like to style it, what type of products I like to use, where I prefer a part, etc. She did a dry cut first, to make sure the curls laid right, then went on to do a wet trim and style to finish it off. Because it has been damaged by bad cuts, we also made a long term plan to grow it out. I left my appointment with Tisha feeling a million times better. The Salon is great too. My first impression of it was comfortable. The atmosphere is wonderful - welcoming, comfortable, clean, and open, but not not pretentious or stark. All of the staff were friendly and approachable, too. There is a spa at the Salon, and I plan to get a massage after my next appointment. If you have curly hair, or want to find a comfy salon/spa, or need a hair dresser that KNOWS hair, or simply just want to experience your best haircut ever, then visit Tisha at Tru Awakenings. Just let me get my appointment in because I found her first!! more

I visited Tru Awakenings for a hair cut and highlights that I purchased through Sharing Spree. I was really happy with my hair and was thankful to Whitney who did it for me. I disagree with the previous comment and was treated with great customer service. Whitney really helped me find a style and color that fit what I needed and my hair looked great when I left. more

I was really impressed with Tru Awakenings Salon and Spa. Its has such a great vibe. My hairstylist was Tisha and I loved her. She is very friendly and outgoing and easy to talk to. She colored and cut my hair, and I felt that she really listened to and cared about how I wanted it done. I went from long hair to a very short style bob and she did a great job. I was very nervous to cut off all my hair but she reassured me the style would look good on me, and took a lot of time and care to make sure that it was exactly what I wanted. She knew that my hair had been damaged from previous dying so she used a great shamp and cond that made my hair feel so soft and healthy again. I really enjoyed my entire salon experience and especially loved Tisha! She is a great hairstylist who really knows what she is doing! My hair looks great and I will definitely be going back to her! more

Presented my Groupon for a half-price 60-minute facial and was treated to a wonderful, perfect experience. Dark quiet setting, new age music, sounds of falling water, five stage facial with three steaming hot towel treatments, gentle exfoliation, arm/shoulder/head massage . . . the whole 9 yards. I have been to Tru Awakenings salon twice now and I will continue to go back again and again! Tisha has colored and cut my hair and does an amazing job! She is super friendly and very knowledgeable in what she does! I have recommended a few friends go see her when they need some hair care, always a wonderful experience!! ASK FOR TISHA, SHE IS WONDERFUL!! more

I got my Sharing Spree for one hour massage for $29 what a deal first of all! I had been super busy with work and figured this was the perfect week to redeem my massage. I walked in and was so happy when I was greeted by friendly staff and offered water. The massage was wonderful so what I needed, very relaxing and I didn't want it to end! more

I've been going to Nicole for all of my hair needs for a couple of years now. I found her after a couple of really bad hairtastrophies and thank goodness I did! Read all the reviews and thought I would give this place a try as my old hairdresser moved way. Kym was the stylist and I explained in great detail what I wanted and she seemed to understand. I had my hair highlighted all over my already short hair and then I needed a cut to shape up the style. Firstly, the color hardly showed on my hair and was not the color I had requested. When the haircut was finished, the color was almost gone and I had chopped up hair and not anything like I had requested! Truthfully, I looked like a boy! Well, I was devasted but paid the $ and left. I felt so bad about how my hair looked and am still in shock anyone could still be cutting hair with no ability! Perhaps it should have been a sign that the salon was almost empty except for one other stylist! I would NOT recommend that salon if they can keep someone like Kym! Beware!!!! Big $$$ for bad hair! BTW, I had to give them one star to get this review up but Kym did not deserve even one. more

I have been looking for Tisha for a while now!! I had followed her from Vital barber shop in Tualatin to the Grand salon spa. She had been cutting my hair for years glad to see she is still doing it. If you need a great hair cut she can do it. First time I went in to see her I had long hair that I had a hard time doing anything with. Now I have a short funky hair cut I love!!!!! Will be going in to see her soon. more

I have been getting my hair cut by Tisha for years, and she always aims to please! I am super picky about my hair, because I have several cowlicks that are hard to work around and style if not cut the way I like it...She goes out of her way to make time around my busy schedule to fit me in, and always takes her time to make me feel comfortable when I see her! If you are a guy who is picky about your hair, I would recommend her! more

Tisha did my hair here and it was amazing she made it lightened and bleached without hurting it and left it soft and feeling and looking amazing! I would let her do my hair again anytime! she cuts it very well as well and it very professional and polite. more

I can't stop touching and looking at my hair! I had the same stylist for 3 years and thought it was great ,well she moved and I was sooooooo nervous to find someone new. Did my research online and asked for Audrey. This young lady took my boring old one color highlight and worked wonders! I have natural looking caramel and blonde shiny dimensional color. The cut she gave me is the best I've had. Found my new stylist and couldn't be happier!! more

I read such great reviews about this salon and was excited it was so close to my house. My husband really needed a haircut so I made him an appointment with Nicole. When he came home he went straight to the hall closet to get a hat, telling me he's going to have to wear a ski hat or baseball cap to the office until this haircut grows out. Turns out he got his haircut from Tisha, not Nicole as scheduled. He had explained to Tisha that he needed the sides and back a bit longer because of his cowlick. Since he wears glasses and takes them off during haircuts, he was horrified to see at the end when he put his glasses back on that she'd just cut/shaved off most of his hair (with no discernible style other than following the round shape of his head) and even cut a path up the sides of his head to make way for a part in his hair that didn't even exist beforehand. The back of his head is so short that his cowlick is sticking up. I was so appalled and feel so bad for sending him there. I have never posted a bad review about anything. Never been mad enough until now. I can't even post this without giving them at least one star but they really do not deserve that one star. more

I'm new to the area and was in search for a new hairstylist. I bought the Groupon for this salon to try it out. Its a really nice clean salon. The staff greeted me with smiles and it seemed like everyone truly enjoyed working there. My stylist was Audrey she was welcoming and asked me about what I wanted and what I didn't want for my hair. She was very sweet and took her time with amazing results! The color she did was outstanding and my haircut is so cute. She explained how to style my hair and showed me products to keep my hair healthy. I found my new salon ! :) more

Went to Tru Awakenings after getting a Groupon, and didn't know what to expect. Walked in first thing in the morning and was greeted with a smile and offered something to drink. The staff was very sweet and nice and as I waited for my appointment, the staff checked in and set me up with some magazines to read. Great atmosphere, and think I found myself falling asleep during my conditioning treatment. Nicole ended up being my stylist, and I couldn't have asked for better results. I had long curly hair and it's hard to find someone that knows how to cut it just right so you don't turn out with a triangle on your head. As soon as I saw that Nicole had similar hair, I knew I was in good hands. I got my hair cut and colored and walked out feeling like a million bucks with my smooth and now gorgeous looking hair. I also got the hair conditioning treatment as I have curly hair that gets dried out easily during the winter months. I think they were running a deal and got it for $10, which is WELL worth the extra few bucks. I would definitely recommend this salon to anyone looking for affordable and top of the line service. I heard about this place opening last fall and was hesitant just because you NEVER know what a stylist is capable of doing to your hair. I recently moved away from my stylist and so the search was on. I had received a 10% coupon online and thought "what the heck". I was ecstatic!!! First off the salon is conveniently located just up the road from scholls and murray, close to my location, I walked into smiling faces and a very sophisticated, sleek salon. Obviously I was generously greeted with refreshments and took my place in Nicole's station. Immediately my anxiety was comforted as she was gently stroking my hair and asking me what I wanted, then she came back with the perfect blend of deep chocolate brown and mahogany....she was talking that famous "hair talk" to where I knew she knew what she was talking about and I was going to look fabulous for my big birthday coming up. I was escorted to have my hair washed as I passed these lovely and calming massage rooms and had a brief tour. The atmosphere was chic, welcoming and felt very comfortable around all of the employees. She recommended an A-Line cut with my new color and I was swiveling in the chair with complete delight! But most importantly....there was just no denying how good I looked!! The salon has an array of QUALITY products....not junk people. And it was clear to me that my hair would have the best quality, best treatment and that's why it looked so good.....oh, and it helps to have talent behind the products and there is no denying that here!! I am headed back extremely soon to take advantage of the Hot Stone Massage and the Signature Facial!! They have an array of facials, exfoliaters, waxing services and specialized treatments for hand and feet. I would and have recommended this place to all of my co-workers and friends. It's a MUST see and MUST go salon!! more

I have been going to Dana there since they opened and my hair looks better than ever. I have fine, thin hair but somehow she's able to make the volume increase x 2. It's not in my neighborhood of Bethany, but it's worth the effort to drive there. more

Finally found someone I trust to do my hair! Nicole Peterson is amazing. I've never walked away not feeling totally pampered! I gave my daughter a gift certificate for a girly day at Tru Awakenings for Christmas this year. She had so much fun, and told me it was one of her best days ever!
