Gynecologists are physicians who treat womens health issues, especially concerning the reproductive system. The areas this most concerns are breasts, uterus, vagina, cervix and fallopian tubes and ovaries. Most of the time, females begin seeing gynecologists after they have started having regular periods. Females should see the gynecologist at least oncea year for a check-up.The check-up usually includes a breast examination for lumps, and a physical examination of the vaginal area, including a Pap smear. Gynecologists also perform hysterectomies and sterilization, more commonly called having your tubes tied.
