Great new restaurant at Myrtle Beach's Market Commons 8/5/2008

After a visit to the local art museum, a friend and I dropped in for lunch at the newly opened TIK in the newly opened Market Commons. Very pleasant ambiance - rough faced brick lining the walls, bare faux-oaken tables attractively set with tableware enfolded in black napkins (nice for businessmen - unnecessary for casual beach wear) eclectic jazz on the sound system. Cons: Had to ask for a zest for my espresso!! more

Good Option for Italian in Lexington 8/7/2007

I have had dinner at Travinia's twice since it opened in Lexington. The food was good, but not great as a whole. They have a few dishes that others I was there with really enjoyed, so it is likely dependent on what you order. Nicely decorated interior for Lexington. As with any new restaurant in Lexington, the wait at peak times has been obnoxious. The service was adequate the first time I was there and abysmal the second time. The hostesses felt as if they were doing you a favor by taking your party's name, and our server was difficult to find to put it mildly. In fact, they missed out on a dessert order from us by taking too long (15+ minutes) to come back to our table towards the end of our meal. more

service great, food great, tobacco smoke in Lexington store is overwhelming 5/16/2007

The brand new Lexington SC restaurant has the potential for being our favorite all around place to go. However, the smoke from the bar permeates through the entire establishment. You leave with that tobacco stench in your hair and clothing; you even puff smoke from your lungs for some time after leaving. The manager simply says...""what can we do until they change the law?"" Cost effective technology is out there that would neutralize the smoke to the point that we non-smokers would be totally oblivious. Some very successful restaurants in this area, Blue Marlin, e.g., have actually gone smoke free. Good luck, Anderson. more
