Please note that Sablone's is no longer in East Boston but is on Smith Street in Marblehead mass. The telephone number is (781) 631-8140. We had a table of 9 and there were about 5 other parties - two or three large parties and about 5 small parties with some at the bar. We were told that there were a lot of no show's due to the weather. The no show's sure missed a FUN night!! \r

We started with some antipasto and appetizers and well, there were so many that was just about enough for me!! The antipasto was followed by bruschetta with enough for all of us. We had a few stuffed mushrooms - large mushrooms with a lovely bread stuffing. We had three plates of calamari and that was finished in a blink of an eye. They were so light and lovely. The other appetizer was the eggplant rollettini - that to me was a great meal. A piece of breaded and fried eggplant wrapped around some tasty rigotta cheese and then baked with sauce and mozzarella on top - yum. \r

For dinner there was a variety of choices. A few had a lovely piece of steak served with some potatoes. Steak was a large juicy piece you didn't even need a knife to slice it with. A couple of us had some Pappardelle with a light red sauce.m Two had lamb with potatoes and mint jelly (we all had to taste it) and veal chops. I had a salad called Mischiata which had lettuce with gorgonzola and fresh pears with almonds and hite balsamic dressing. Just perfect. We arrived late so we had no dessert - we had the champagne toast and italian cookies being passed around by Jessica Maffeo and they were to die for. After the champagne toast there was coffee and pastries for all before they head out in the cold. All evening there was an accordian entertainer who sang great italian and american songs and even got our aunt to the dance floor and singing. Needless to say, a good time was had by all. Thanks Sablone's. Hopefully there will be a party next New Years Eve.
