Tradewinds is nothing like what is advertised. After moving from South Florida, I wanted a safe area close to my job and the theme parks. At one point I was interested in purchasing a unit from Tradewinds. I decided to rent for 1 year and if I liked the area I would purchase the unit I was in. Well, now 1 year later...I am so happy I didn't buy into this place.
The management teams seem to care less about the safety of the tenants and more on meeting their monthly quota for the month.
SAFETY
If you have children, be very careful with intruders. This place houses more pedophiles than the local correctional facility. If you want proof, search the local offender list and enter the zip code 32835. Background checks are obsolete with this place. Don't believe them when they say it is safe.
Security is a major issue with this place. There have been several break-ins in the area, yet nothing has changed with the security level. There is a security guard on the premises but he can barely keep track of the property.
STAFF
The staff in the leasing office at first will seem courteous and friendly but once the lease is signed, here comes the horns. They are unprofessional and at times down right rude. Every month there is a new receptionist. That should tell you something about them. They fail to respond to emergency issues. Don't even bother taking your concerns to the Office manager. She is worthless and unless her superiors are onsite for day don't expect to find her in the office.
MAINTENANCE
Ground keeping is terrible. Unless you have a unit in the main entrance of the community, don't expect your area to be clean or tidy. The grass in areas are dried up and the greenery nearby is hording snakes and frogs. Many mornings you will be awaken to the greeting of 4-5 snakes catching the sun before going to work. The office's response is "there is a snake problem throughout Florida" nothing they can do.
UNITS
The units themselves are over 40 years old. There is so much paint and carpet can do. The masking of the bright colors and wood floor can bring attractiveness to the unit but that's it. Plumbing is an issue; A/C is an issue and electrical problems.
At least 50% of this property is un-rented and the remaining 50% is securing owners and tenants who want out.
I would highly discourage anyone from spending their time or money with this place. There are local apartments nearby that offer better service and more value for your money. Good luck.
