Tradewinds Apartments

I moved into these apartments because they were very very inexpensive. However, after 4 1/2 years the complex went from ""inexpensive"" to ""cheap"" to ""ghetto,"" and the rent would go up each time I needed to sign a new lease. If you need a cheap place to live, but don't want sketchy neighbors, management that treats you like you're a criminal, and helicopter lullabies, there are way better places for the money.\r Over the time I was there, they would terrorize the residence through the use of a monthly apartment ""inspection"", they used of an over zealous tow company that would patrol the lot and execute questionable tows under the guise of being under contract by the complex (the complex would in turn act as if they had nothing to do with the tow company if you vehicle was towed), and maintenance crews that would get work orders and entry clearances that the resident didn't request. \r During the install of the covered parking, I would often end up parking 5 minutes by foot from my apartment because parking was so scarce. The last project they did before I finally had to move was they knocked down a block wall. It took 3 days to demo and clear, and then they piled up rock in the parking lot, under the covering, taking up 6 covered space just for my building. I assumed that since they piled it in the parking lot meant they would be placing the rock within days. 5 months later, they finally got the rock out from under the covered parking.\r This is a horrible apartment complex managed by horrible people. more

I resently moved out of Tradewind Apartments (by recently I mean Today 7/31/07), due to it raining in my apartment which was on the second floor of a three story building. This is not the first time something like this has happened in that apartment. It started with a fire inside of the walls of my particular building, then came the rain last year. They did no repairs either time, with the rain they just vaccumed the water up and attempted to dry the carpets with huge fans, and of course that did NOT work. Now this has happened again with the rain and the FIRE DEPARTMENT told us tenants that they recommend that the building be CONDEEMED, but of course the owners don't feel the need to CONDEEM the building, the OWNER personally told me that he's going to vaccum out the apartments and he had an electrician come and look at the apts. and they will be ready to move in the same day, just one whole day after ALLLLL the damage to this building was done. They have so called EMERGENCY MAINTAINANCE and they never answer the calls. My air went out and I have 2 older kids and a 6 month old baby which was 4 1/2 months old at the time and it took them 2 weeks to come and fix the air. The office staff is very RUDE and the manager is RUDE and doesn't solve any problems that are addressed to him. They let me out of my lease a month early but locked me out of my apartment before I could get my things out. This was today the same day the owner told me I could move out when I was ready with no problems from themThe grounds are kept extremely nasty and I wouldn't recommend my worst enemy move into these properties or any owed by this company. This place is horrible! We moved from another city and went with these apartments because of the good price. Turns out the price is low for a good reason. The day we were supposed to move in, they had no record of us at all. We gave them the apartment number we were told we were moving into, they said it had burned down, they had never informed us. There was one open and they had to go vacuum it. We moved in there. It was falling apart. I had to use an extra piece of paper to list all the problems with it. It took 4 times of changing the mailbox key for our key to work, which resulted in a lot of our forwarded mail being lost forever. We got our phones turned on through and it was the apartment's responsiblity to activate them inside that apartment. They said there was a problem with the lines inside the complex and that they were being fixed. We never had a phone the whole time we lived there. A couple months after we moved in, it rained and our master bedroom had 3 inches of water in it. This happened in several other people's apartments also. The manager said they weren't doing anything about it that day because they didn't have the equipment and that it wasn't an emergency because it wasn't a health hazzard (was pregnant and had 2 kids)! It took 4 days for them to come and even then, it still wasn't dry. Our apartment smelled like mold, it was disgusting, mold is a health hazzard. We got the manager to let us out of our lease, he told us we would have to pay that months rent, but we would get the remainder of it back after we moved, we never got it back. I called and went into the office several times with no luck. On top of it all...it is dirty, the trash dumpsters are overflowing, and the manager is a horrible, horrible person. His name is Joel, by the way. Every time I went in the office with a problem, he either had this horrid smirk on his face or he just ignored me. I have never been treated so badly! Don't live here!
