Totally not what I was expecting when I walked in...pleasantly surprised. A little gem in the quiet streets of emeryville yet bustling inside. Great food, great service, good bar. Thumbs up. more

The food here is good, and it's a nice place to take out-of-town guests. A bit on the pricey side, but when I really want to splurge and treat myself (or a loved one) to a ""nice dinner in Emeryville,"" this is always the first choice. The outside of Townhouse isn't very appealing, but once you're inside the dining area has a nice atmosphere. Parking is decent. Once seated the volume of the room becomes apparent and a little overwhelming. Two of our entres were pretty good (scallops and jambalaya) but the salmon and the halibut were not very tasty at all. Given the quality and flavor of the food, the prices just weren't justified. Other people around us were ordering pork chops, fried chicken, and burgers and it all looked tasty, so maybe we ordered poorly, but our dishes were just okay. Overall the dining experience was not that impressive. I'll give the restaurant another chance but I'll stay away from the seafood dishes next time. I've now eaten at the restaurant a handful of times and I've never been disappointed. The waitstaff are friendly, the drinks (esp. mojitos) are delicious, and the food melts in the mouth! The fish, vegetarian and meat entrees have all been enjoyed and the portions are generous. My one complaint is that the drinks can be expensive, if you're requesting a premium product. Every dessert has been enjoyed...including the walnut, chocolate chip cookies- they're soft and clearly homemade-yum! And, it's not a cheap meal, but it's worth the quality. more

Though the food was good and the outdoor patio and inside seating is nice, its really nothing special. For the price, there are MANY other places I would recommend who serve the same kind of food (even better). Not worth it!!! PS: the service was lousy-wait staff were snotty and rude. Liked the warehouse atmosphere and there is a small patio for dining that is very nice. Had the squash ravioli and it was great. It's a bit pricy but I found it worth it. Waitstaff was on top of things. Only downside is there is not much parking at lunch time. There is a valet, however, which is helpful in most cases. Maybe I just went on bad day(s) and night(s), but the last few times Ive gone here, I've been pretty disappointed. I had the salmon special for brunch last weekend, and it was nothing to write home about. For $22 you'd expect something with a little more Oomph. I had the scallops a few months ago and they were overcooked. My side dish was cold too. Maybe it's the way I look, but I'm not a huge fan of the service or food. This little gem in the heart of Emeryville's buisness district is SO worth seeking out. It's relaxed and cozy, but also sports an upscale ambience if you're into fancier digs. I was there with a large party, and everyone's food was amazing. The bread is warm, fresh, and delicious. We all got appetizers, which were less expensive but totally generous--from the mindblowing nachos to the delicate, bleu-cheese topped mini-burgers. I saw people at other tables enjoying heaping pastas and salads that also looked top-notch. You won't leave hungry, which is definitely a plus for me! The perfect place! The restaurant had great ambience. It was unique, artistic and airy. However, I thought that the food was slightly overpriced. For the pan seared ahi tuna, three little pieces were not enough, especially for $21.75. more

The Townhouse quitely succeeds for good reason. Its funky and comfortable interior makes most everyone relax. The bartenders make great top shelf drinks with fresh juices and mixes and the service is efficent but hip. And, the food is great! Try the Cesaer salad and any selection of meat with the garlic fires or garlic mashed potatoes. Or, try my all time favorite simple pasta with tomatoes, basil and garlic.
