I rarely find time to cook, but when I do I like to go all out. I'd rather hit a farmers market than Publix, or a specialty wine spot (like Castleberry's Wine Shoe) than Green's. Being married to an Italian, I can't exactly get away with the Prego n pasta route. Thankfully Toscano and Sons makes the shopping as much fun as the cooking. And not only do they have cans of san marzano tomatoes and imported olive oils and Italian candy, but they have bang-on sandwiches that I can't resist. While their solid supply of house cured meats and blocks of cheese definitely helps the panini's stand out, what makes these sandwiches so good is the bread. It's magically crispy outside but soft and chewy on the inside. And they're a pretty hefty portion for the small price of $4.50!
Pros: Bomb sandwiches.
Cons: I shouldn't eat this every day.
