Best

I have to confess I am not a sushi fan but this place is great. my friends and I drive all the way from tarzana to eat at this place.

Worst

Excellent sushi, manager is rude at this place and service is not the best. I am a sushi lover, but unfortunately, I don't feel like to recommend this place to anybody!!!

We went to Toro for a date night. My 1/24/2014

We went to Toro for a date night. My problem is that we are still super hungry after spending 50 dollar per person. Maybe it's what we order but I would expect them to tell me if what we order should not be enough :( more

Best Authentic Sushi in California 2/3/2010

If you are tired of eating sushi with mayo and teriyaki sauce and you would like to try authentic Japanese sushi then definitely try this place. Pros: Fresh Fish, No Mayo, No Soy Sauce needed Cons: Expensive more

Great Sushi 9/23/2009

Toros is by far the coolest sushi experience I've had so far. At first I was skeptical because I'm not a fan of "Chinese" sushi, nor am I a fan of "fusion" sushi but this place was neither. The itamaes were Japanese, the nigiri is served in purist-fashion, even though there are rolls on the menu, they are not the star players on the menu. The star players are the toros, they had at least three different kinds. I didn't splurge and get the tuna toro, I got the Bluefin instead. I did get the Hamachi toro (Yellowtail) for $7.50. It was good, but not as good as tuna toro (then again, what do I know). My favorite of the night was the beautiful Sanma (Pike) sushi and the equally beautiful Kinmedai (Golden Snapper) sushi. I wish, I wish, I wish I had brought my camera. The artistry of the itamaes would have brought tears, the flesh with sliver of skin attached was so beautiful. The taste was decadent. The hot item of the night seem to be the Dai Hotate (Jumbo Live Scallops). I liked it, but a more

great food, great quality, great service 7/10/2009

When i go in, the service is very attentive even with a large portion of the restaurant filled with other patrons. Pros: freshest sushi ive had recently in LA. Cons: none more

Great food 1/25/2009

The food here is really good. The price is a little bit over priced. Good rolls and noodles. The wait is long though sometimes. The service is slow. They have nice decor inside and adds to the nice atmosphere. more

Sushi Gem in Alhambra 12/10/2008

Excellent Sushi.... Very Very Fresh!!! And the portions are fantastic. With all the fake cheap Sushi places in Alhambra I had almost given up. But Toros is great!!! It's a little hidden on Main st but once you find it you'll never forget. The staff and owner were very nice. Pros: Fresh Sushi, Nice Clean Place more

LEAVES A BAD TASTE IN YOUR MOUTH! 8/25/2008

if you dare to be adventurous by burning your pocket for foul food which is inferior, this is THE place! not to mention, how demoralizing it feels to see how japanese cuisine is degraded, being a native japanese i can only sympathize with folks who aren't being served the right food, fusion or not. Pros: none Cons: numerous more

One of the BEST sushi bar I have been !!!!! 8/23/2008

I have been to many sushi restaurant in Southern California, but Toros is one of the BEST !!!! We ordered a combination sashimi plate, WOW, the presentation, the variety of seafood and freshness COMPLETELY amazing. They even put a raw Amaebi on the plate that tasted SOOOO GOOD !!! The Tempura is also very tasty, very fresh. We finished the lunch with green tea ice cream which is absolutely amazing. The fragrence of the tea just fills up your mouth. I will recommand this place to ANYONE who wants EXCELLENT sushi and sashmi. You won't regret it !!!!! It is simply the BEST !!!!!!! Great service, Nice sitting, quiet, not crowded. Pros: Sashimi. quiet, not crowded Cons: none more

intimate setting 6/7/2008

I found this place on here, citysearch, read the reviews, thought what the hey, and decided to try the local sushi place rather than go into LA. My first impression of the place was a nice, intimate setting. it had a very nice ambiance, not too bright, not too dark. my wife thought it was romantic. service was prompted. we sat in the opposite corner of the restaurant from the sushi bar, but the chefs behind the bar seem very friendly and animated. every once in a while, they'd all give a loud shout-out beer-toast with the patrons sitting at the bar. very fun. the two sushi rolls we ordered were good. we tried the kobe beef tataki to see what kobe beef was all about. not recommended. I had better, a long time ago, elsewhere. $19 for 5 small, thin slices. their sashimi is good too. Pros: ambience, service was very friendly Cons: none more

Good Food, Awful Service 5/14/2008

I've been to this place twice and while the food is excellent, the service was awful--both times! The first time we were there, we had to get moved after we were already settled. The second time, they messed up our orders, brought out the dishes at different times, and service was just slow. I did enjoy the food, but am not sure if I'd go back to the service. more

I love this place! 4/9/2008

I've been to Toro's several times and taken a lot of friends who now visit it regularly themselves. The sushi & sashimi are fantastic and beautifully presented. My favorite is uni, but it's not for everyone. Most of my friends don't care for it. Sitting at the bar is great to do when you're alone or with one person. The chefs make good recommendations and are really friendly about answering questions. The staff is great and the ambience and decor are comfortable and stylish although the bathroom is a little weird, but clean. It's very reasonably priced for sushi as well. I find it as good as Sushi Gen downtown, which is awesome, but much less expensive. Pros: Seriously good sushi & sashimi Cons: none more

Avoid like the plague! 1/11/2008

The food was dis-gust-ing! Barely passes as Japanese food. Loud, tacky interior. Truly awful service - slow and obnoxious. Pros: Nothing Cons: Everything more

Great Find!!! 8/29/2007

My friend and I were headed to a movie in Alhambra, and we were craving Sushi, but we wanted to go someplace close to the theater. I haven't spent any time in Alhambra, so I actually found Toros on citysearch. The few reviews looked good, so we thought we would give it a try. The place is a little bit small, very cozy and intimate. We were seated promptly and our server immediately took our drink order. About 2 minutes later, someone else came by to make sure drinks were taken care of. When we had decided on our orders, our server literally came over as soon as he saw us close our menus. We ordered 3 specialty rolls, and rice. The rolls came out one at a time, like a 3 course meal. As soon as we had finished the first, the second came out. The sushi was delicious! Amazingly fresh, the rolls were hand crafted to perfection and the combinations of flavors were tantalizing. We were full by the second roll, so we ended up taking the third to go. Our rice, water, and green tea were refilled promptly without any hassle, or even having been requested. After we received the check, we asked another server where we could find a pinkberry type place. She gave us perfect directions to a place less than a mile away. This place was fantastic! I Highly recommend it! ... I never go to Alhambra, but I would make a special trip just to go back to Toros! more

Good Sushi, Good Service, Good Location 8/20/2007

I've been here twice and both times it met my expectations. Good food, friendly staff and the owner would sometimes come out to greet guest. The food and sake were both good. I definitely recommend. Pros: Food, Service, Parking Cons: None more

Great sushi, friendly service 5/17/2007

This has to be one of the most sushi-friendly restaurants in the SG valley area. The sushi are well-prepared, fresh and eye pleasing. These guys know what they're doing. The restaurant is perfectly located on Main street with plenty of parking. They have a lunch special and the price is good for what's on the menu. The decor is new and not overly done like some other restaurants. Great place for a date or lunch with co-workers. Pros: Parking, friendly service, good location more

Phenomenal sushi and sashimi 5/11/2007

Wow! Greatest sushi in San Gabriel Valley. Every sushi lovers must check out this place. Very unique dinning experience. Pros: Ambience, Parking, Service, Food Cons: None more
