Place that gives off the authentic feel of a real sushi place in the area. Prices are right on the money and there are a lot of choices on the menu. I like it. more

I love all sushi, but I especially love Toro Sushi. i usually just come with a friend or two, but I always see large groups here, which is actually kind of unique for a sushi place. i love the loveyoulots roll- delicious. The staff is always friendly and the food is always fresh. It's good for kids too- you don't have to worry about them making a mess, I've never had anyone complain there. more

Great for any occasion! 3/7/2011

Great place to take the family, or to hang out with friends. We've been here on several occasions & I strongly believe the waitress or waiter really sets the mood for how your night will turn out. Valerie is just the best of how it gets, we had a large party with us & she didn't miss a beat. Except when she had one of the other waitresses helping out... they were horrible! Food was great, although the sesame chicken was a bit over done.... my kids enjoyed the rolls, and my husband enjoyed everything, including the sake bombs. I suggest the cook or manager should get more involved with his guest & on occasion even take sake bombs with guest. =) GREAT PLACE!!! more

Innovative and Creative 1/12/2010

I've been here a few times since the place opened and sometimes its hit or miss with the crowd. Sometimes the place is loud and packed, other times its quiet and empty. The food is good, they have very creative rolls and the service is good too. Young staff, very fun and relaxed atmosphere. I've only ordered one thing that I didn't like and that was the Agedashi Tofu....it just didn't taste quite right. I get it everywhere I go and their's didn't have the right breading on the outside. It was almost powdery instead of being light and crispy. But every thing else I've had there has been delicious. The fish is fresh and the rolls are very unique. Toro Sushi is an awesome place to take a date or to celebrate a special occasion. They can accommodate parties as large as 80 people! They have a huge sushi bar with not only your traditional sushi and sashimi (try the Live Scallop) but a unique Japanese - Spanish fusion. The wide selections of kitchen items will please all palates. Toro Sushi also has a full liquor bar and live entertainment like guest DJ's and live bands on certain late nights. Awesome catering and Food 4/20/2009

Toro sushi catered my sons first birthday for anout 60 people. They were timely, efficient, neat, professional, and sanitary. The food was beautifully presented and delicious. I have a very hard to impress husband and he was really truly blown away by their service. Although we havent yet dined in the restaurant we will be soon. I highly reccommend them for all occasions. a must try! Pros: Professional, delicious, fun Cons: too far from my house! more

me and my friends usually go to a sushi bar 20 mins away from where we live, but when toro opened we decided to try it, since it was only 5 mins away. the food is great and the decorating is wonderful. we always get good service. this sushi bar has become our fave for when we get that craving. try the loveyoulongtime roll, it's worth every penny. :D Pros: great decorating, great service, great sushi Cons: a wee bit pricey (but it's sushi, so it's expected) more

Toro Sushi is the best ever*** 3/16/2009

If you love good Sushi then you have got to go to Toro Sushi. I would recommend their peppered samon which i dearly love. My boyfriend always gets the Cucumber roll, and their oysters are so clean and fresh.\r We love the relaxed atmosphere, and the owner Al is so very kind to us..On a scale of 1-10 this place is a deffinate 10....Love you Toro C ya next time.... Bouncers are Dumb & Really Rude!!! 1/29/2009

The sushi here is at about par the few times I've been, but don't bother with their attempt at being an after hours ""hot spot."" At night TORO tries to assume a night club feel and severely fails... their bouncers are rude and thier bar area fills with people that don't really know where else to go. On top of that their staff is ill attentive and their ""couldn't pass the police entrance exam so now I'm a bouncer"" people are really rude and think that they're doing VIP protection for a L.A. night club... Seriously don't bother; if you want good sushi go somewhere else and if you want to go out one night find a damn night club where you might actually have a good time :) Pros: If you are lame this place works for you Cons: Low IQ bouncers... more

Delicious, affordable, fun 7/1/2008

I've been here many times. Toro has a great atmosphere, very friendly service (hard to come by at sushi places) and wont break the bank. The food is always fresh and amazing. They have some really cool signature rolls, and there garlic noodles are AWESOME. The only negative i can come up with this place is that the shopping center its located in has a sewer problem, and its not un-comon to get a bad whiff of it from time to time when people open the doors. I really wish the city would do something about it, because there are several restaurants nearby that are all plagued with the same situation. its not the restaurants fault, just an unfortunate location. Fantastic Sushi, Trendy Location 5/16/2008

I found this place online and went cautiously. I knew the location was right next to the fwy and it didn't seem right for great sushi. Was I wrong! The decor is dark and red everywhere, and the food is amazing! The rolls are huge and I left feeling so full for the $$ I'd spent.\r \r I'll come back again and again! Toro Sushi is the BEST bar none!!!! 3/25/2008

Ok you walk in look around, the atmosphere is nutt's! (in a good way) All the customer's are just standing around mingling with other customer's and having a good 'ole time. You pretty much meet everyone one of the staff starting from your hostess to the owner. The food is INCREDIBLE!! Their oyster's on the half shell are the best I've had, by far!! My favorite roll is the Greenbay roll. Not sure if it's still called that but it's fantastic. Other favorite's you have to try would be Pepperd salmon or Yellowtail belly sashimi. I think this spot is the perfect date spot. Or even with a big group of friend's it's awesome. I just had my birthday there and they had karaoke. Tonz of fun! Make sure if you go with a group of friend's to get at least one round of Sake Bomb's. They hype it up and the energy there is just FUN! I have nothing else to say, but Toro's the BEST!!! Oh and the bartender Jan is AWESOME! I'm alway's leaving feeling really good. Hahahhaaa thank's girl. I love you guy's!!!! Pros: fun friendly staff, fresh fish, delicious roll's, great invironment! Awesome Atmosphere, Awesome Food 2/13/2007

This place is great. Bring a date or bring your family, they cater to all. The toro taco and p-whip are amazing. The diablo roll is better than the super diablo roll but all are delicious. My boyfriend and I went three times in one week and then another two the following week because we craved it so much. I swear, they put something in the rolls to make them so deliciously addictive. Now that they have a new building and a great bar, this place is perfection. I highly recommend it. more

Awesome Sushi 6/12/2006

Toro Sushi is sooooo good!!! Kudos for the Toro Taco!!! I love them. I crave them!! The P-Whips are even better if one can imagine. I love the super diablo, and there is so much per serving that it is very easy to share. The atmosphere is fun and inviting. Look around and you will notice that all patrons are having a really good time. I like the choice of music and the staff is beyond helpful and friendly. I cannot wait to go back!! more

Delicious food & a fun time 6/6/2006

I was impressed with the numerous creative rolls and the fresh sushi (particularly enjoyed the amaebi, uni, and yellowtail). The food and service was excellent.\r Great place with a fun atmosphere to enjoy with a bunch of friends. Go and order lots of dishes to sample and plenty of beer & sake! Fun to be had!!! 5/8/2006

For the real deal sushi, you will have to go to J-town, but for the Americanized sushi with some of the best creations and spin off on rolls, Toro is hard to beat. I have tried many sushi joints from J-town to Pasadena to beach area, this has to be one of the top fun place to be. the crew is friendly and fun loving, the dishes are flavorful and plenty. I run up a 300+ bill few nights with friends, the sushi bill was only 80.00 but the sake... oh my. want to have fun and don't want to drive too far with the gas price nowadays, go to Toro, you won't be disappointed. Pros: Great service, excellent dishes, fun loving crew more

Really Great Food & Friendly Service 4/23/2006

Follow the crowds to this restaurant, and don't let the short wait frighten you because it is worth it! This restaurant has the best tasting and most creative sushi I've ever had. The portions were perfect, the variety is wide, and the food was just soo good. If you didn't like sushi before, you will crave it like a sumo wrestler after eating at Toro. Ask the friendly staff for their reccomendations and for some of their original items that aren't listed on the menu. P.S. - The 50/50 plum wine and sake is a must.
