Toque American Bistro

I have been eating at Toque since they opened and have rarely been disappointed with the restaurant in general and never with the food. When we want an excellent meal with the freshest ingredients we head to Toque. As opposed to most restaurants the chef always visits our table to see how the meal is going and accommodates my girlfriends special dietary needs with flair and creativity. Personally I consider this the best restaurant in Merrick, Bellmore and Wantagh and probably one of the best on the south shore. My personal favorites are the Stripped Bass (when in season) and the Braised Short Ribs. more

we went on our first date here and loved it back then. Now, we have been nothing but disapointed when we returned on three occasions to give it another try. Like the other poster, we were scolded by the manager and treated like anything but customers....our food was cold and not fresh and the wait staff was anything but accomodating ("can I have a fork?" took twenty minutes!) more

I have been there a few times, and I have to say they I cannot recommend it any longer. The first time we went everything was great. The salad was outstanding and the entrees are even better. Their walnut/pomegranate salad is to die for! The next few times were just ok. The last (and final) time we went was for mother's day, they had a special menu (did not tell me over the phone). We had a babysitting problem as well and they refused to cancel the reservation without charging us $40!!! So we came with the kids. I tend to eat vegetarian, not a single item on the "special menu" was vegetarian or not too heavy. I ended up ordering two big appetizers and was scoldled by the manager (believe it or not!). And then, they refused to honor a restaurant.com gift certificate (with no restrictions). Too bad, their loss. Go to Nicholas James instead! more

Toque American Bistro is a great place to grab a bite to eat. They have an extensive lunch and dinner menu. They have many wraps and sandwiches available. The prices are great too. The atmosphere is friendly and inviting. The staff are great. I highly recommend this place. more
