Top of the Hub

Some friends were in town for a business meeting and wanted a view of the city while we ate. I suggested Top of the Hub. What a mistake. We are all young professionals and dressed well (we had meetings after lunch), but seemingly not to the standard of the staff. Before we could request a table we were told that the view is for DINER'S ONLY. I said that was good, because that is what we were. For the rest of the meal the waiter made comments and implications about our etiquette under his breath. I have dined in more formal atmospheres and needed no such lesson. Even when he brought us the wrong food he tried to pass it off as our being ignorant of fine dining. I have no explaination for the behavior of the staff, but I will not be returning. more

My husband and I celebrated our first wedding anniversary at Top of the Hub. It was very romantic, and the staff did their part to make sure our meal was top notch. The view was to die for, and we were pleased with our food. The server was very helpful, and prompt. more

Top of the Hub is the easiest spot in the state to get into a romantic mood. Having eaten there a 1/2 dozen times, we and our guests agree, the view, ambience, food and service set the tone. Went here on our anniversary with my gf. We had dinner at Lumeire and came here for drinks. There was a HUGE line just for lounge/bar. Reservation is required for dining area. They had live music that was pretty good. I was kinda disappointed by the view from Top of the Hub. It was a clear night and you could see everything, but still it wasn't as romantic or great as I hoped/wanted/wished it was. It's pretty expensive. First, you come here for the atmosphere, which is classy but not snooty. Views are superb, especially if you get a seat overlooking the river or downtown. Lounge is dark, jazzy, and $20 for two drinks will show her you da man. I heard mixed reviews on the food, but was very happy with the meal. Steak was substantial prime cut, not as nice as Capital Grill, but still good. Sea bss was small cut but tasty. Side dishes could have been a bit bigger, but they were all flavorful. This was my first experience at a fancy restaurant, and I must say that I was impressed! The atmosphere was incredible due to the wonderful decoration and the fabulous view. The service was prompt, the food was hot, and the price was reasonable. I would highly recommend the warm chocolate cake for dessert. It was delicious. There could have been a few more choices for the meat-lovers, but other than that, I could find little to fault. I highly recommend this unique eating experience to you.
