Annual Visit 6/1/2009

Our Wisconsin Playground Warriors program has been making the stop at Randy's for a decade now on the Friday before Memorial Day weekend. Our players enjoy the variety of options and the pizza is perfect for our casual dinner. While the pizza is worth the stop all on it's own, the incredible selection sides such as Buffalo wings, curly fries, onion rings, garlic rolls, etc. is truly what makes this a ""must stop"" place for us during our visit to the area for the Bob Gibbons' Tournament of Champions.\r \r Dave and the rest of the staff are always very friendly, courteous, and welcoming to our group each year. We will be back again in 2010!\r \r Wisconsin Playground Warriors, Ltd.\r wiplaygroundwarriors . com Pros: Best Pizza in the Research Triangle more

You will want to come back again ... and again ... 1/23/2009

We are Friday night regulars at Randy's, and look forward to the delicious food every week. When we first started coming the owners made it a point to welcome us, and after seeing our faces just a couple times they were able to identify us by name. It's hard to find a place with such great tasting food (especially the red sauce, which is homemade) matched with friendly faces for such an affordable price. You won't go wrong eating at Randy's. Pros: Owners' customer service; homemade red sauce; spinach manicotti Cons: Don't let the long lines scare you away ... it's worth the wait! more

Excellent pizza, don't hold your breath for a table 10/4/2008

Best pizza in town. Seriously. (Okay, if you like thin New York style, which I do.) But if you're looking for a place to sit during lunch, either get there before 11:30 or after 1:00. During that hour and a half, the line is typically out the door. The last time my coworkers and I got there, we were in a line down the sidewalk to get in and order. So we called in an order to go, which was ready in 15 minutes, and ate back at the office. Still delicious. Pros: Great pizza Cons: Always crowded during lunch more

Great Pizza !!!! 5/22/2008

I went in for two slices on tuesday, and the slices were so good and so big, today is Thursday and I took my picky husband and kids in and they loved it. My husband said he will go back. more

Great Pizza and even better house pasta sauce 3/1/2008

Randy's is by far the best place for pizza we have found in the triangle. Don't confuse this Randy's with the rest of the ones in Durham. This one has the same name but is independent of the others....and much better.\r \r -The pasta dishes are good and the homemade sauce is amazing, it has a real sweet kick to it.\r -The slices are huge and they pile on the toppings. \r -The best thing there to me are the garlic knots. They are soft and garlic butter is great.\r -The hot sandwiches are made fresh and also good.\r \r A few tips:\r If you get pizza by the slice it is very thin. If you order a pizza to go it's thicker. What I do is ask for a 16 inch pizza with 14 inch dough and it comes out nice and thin.\r Be sure to call ahead for lunch if you're getting a big order, the line is out the door at lunch time. Pros: Staff and owner are very friendly Cons: Garlic knots are not good for me, but I can't stop eating them. more

My GPS tells me I'm in NC, but that can't be right - I must be in New York! 11/8/2007

I'm no casual fan of pizza; so when I heard about a place that served up real New York style pizza, I was skeptical. I've been disappointed too many times. But I'm here to tell you; this is the real deal.\r \r Paper thin, foldable, chewy crust? Check!\r Not too much sauce? Check!\r Good cheese, well seasoned, fresh toppings? Check, check and check!\r \r I was so impressed, I had to see who was behind the opeartion. I saw a man that seemed to be in charge. He was a flurry of activity, but seemed to be really enjoying his work. I introduced myself and found out his name was David, and that he was one of the owners. It's always great when the owners take a 'hands on' role in an establishment like this. He took time out from his obviously busy work day to talk to me and explain what made his joint special. I could see the obvious pride he took in his place.\r \r My lunch was 2 huge slices of pizza (so big they need 3 paper plates arranged to hold it!) and a fountain drink - a little over $6. Such a deal!\r \r If you work in RTP, love pizza and haven't tried this place - don't walk, run. It's a small place, with about 6 tables that seat 4 or 5, so maybe not the best place to eat in if you have a big group. Pros: Excellent New York style pizza Cons: Not open on weekends more

The crowd during lunch should give a clue... 9/21/2007

Easily the best pizza in the Raleigh area. Very crowded during lunch hours but tables turn over quickly and we never have to wait too long for a seat. We probably eat here for lunch twice a week, the specials on the board are usually worth checking out too. The sweet tea is great. Pros: Best Pizza in Town Cons: seat yourself can take a few minutes for a spot more

Great Pizza and Service 3/10/2007

Great pizza and service -- that says it all. Only wish they had a bit more seating (the downside to being so popular). Pros: Great Pizza and Service Cons: Wish there were a bit more seating. more

RTP Regular 10/12/2006

I work in the RTP area and have been a regular at Randy's for a little over two years now, and I can't say enough about them. The pizza and subs are delicious and the place has a style all its' own. The employees are fantastic and witty. Go experience Randy's, you won't regret it! more

VERY TASTY PIZZA -- far better than dominos, papa johns, etc. 9/2/2006

In the way that bread is an important part of a sandwich, the crust of of a pizza is very important to me. I love the fresh, doughy, clean and natural taste of the crust from Randy's on Miami. Where I (and a lot of others) usually discard crusty part of the pizza with no sauce on it, I keep snacking on this crust and love it.\r \r They've got enough selection that if you're interested in something besides pizza or ordering for a group that needs pizza plus something else, they've got subs, calzones, manicotti, etc. All are quite good, especially for the prices they charge.\r \r The staff is straightforward especially during their very busy, high volume lunch, but come back a few times and they'll get to know your name, how you like your pizza and be able to make special accomodations outside of the peak lunch hours to get you what you want, just how you like it.. Pros: Pizza superior to dominos, papa johns; Non pizza selections very good, too Cons: Very busy lunch -- know what you want and be patient with getting it. more

assembly line style/food is fine 8/9/2006

I tried the place for lunch. The food was ok, no complaints. The place is too chaotic to have a sit down meal there. You get assembly line ordering (no questions allowed) and assembly line service. It's a volume operation. Very loud at lunch and you'll likely have trouble finding a seat. Pros: Pizza by the slice comes out farily quickly. Cons: Assembly line atmosphere. more

HOLY COW THIS IS GOOD PIZZA 4/14/2006

I am an Sicilian from Pittsburgh, and I HATE HATE HATE Pizza chain Pizza. I just moved closer to Durham and was upset that my only choices were Dominos and Papa Johns. Fed up with crappy pizza I started my search and as if the gods were smiling on me I found Randy's Pizza on Miami Blvd. From the very moment I put the first bite into my mouth I knew the Dominos and Papa Johns phone numbers could be ripped up. the sauce is simple, and tomato tasting, and not like the sugar induced crap at the chain stores. The crust is hand tossed and has the PERFECT texture and taste, and I can tell it was cooked in a real pizza oven. Thanks Randy Pros: Sauce, Service, Delivery Cons: Hours of operation more

Closest Pizza to NJ Yet 2/8/2006

Great spot for lunch, but get there early. I have been here a number of times and find the pizza to be the closest thing I have found since leaving NJ. Generous slices. A must try is the stromboli - loaded with pepperoni and sausage - great sauce! The baked dishes are great too, especially the lasagne. Randy's goes out of their way to provide great service. Wonderful group of people behind the counter. I wish this place would be open on the weekends. Pros: Great food, Great service, Great staff Cons: not open on weekends, too crowded more

what a wast 12/11/2005

Don't bother ordering delivery from Randy's unless you like aruging and want to wait 3 hrs for your food. When I called to check on a late order, I was first told that I was lying since my food was already delivered (The driver said he had asked me for photo ID and confirmed that my identity was correct.) Since I evidently must have forgotten this food arriving, I spoke to a manager. The manager claimed my order had been lost, asked for it again and said it would arrive ASAP (another hour wait). Then after looking at my debit card transactions online, I had been debited at about the time of my initial, first order. If you feel like listening to someone make up lie after lie, Randy's is for you. Otherwise, go with Cinelli's, Pop's, or Francesca's. Even Domino's has their act together better than Randy's. Pros: average priced, average food Cons: slow, dishonest, rude more

Great for kids 11/9/2005

The calzone is great, my favorite thing on the menu so far. The two pieces of cheese pizza were giant and filling, but not the best I have ever had. A great restaurant for picky people or children. If you are eating there for lunch make sure you get there early or late, because the place is packed! Pros: price, menu Cons: crowds, not enough parking more

Very good ! 8/28/2005

I've eaten here 3 times now and and have had the pizza and spaghetti dinner. The rolls they serve with the dinner are great as they in a container with garlic butter melted at the bottom. This place is packed from almost 11:15 until after 1:00. Come early to get a table. more

Best Pizza This side of The Mason Dixon 1/5/2005

If you're looking for REAL NY style pizza there is no place that beats Randy's. Its hard to find good in the NY area. Believe me...I'm from Jersey...I know! I've tried a ton of places but I'm done looking around. The food is excellent at all of Randy's locations but you won't beat the service on S. Miami. Just ask for 'Brian'! Pros: Easy to Get To, Excellent Food, Friendly Staff more

legit pizza 9/14/2004

Not bad. Not bad at all. NY Style Pizza. Crust is decent although a little undercooked both times I've been there. Good mix of cheese and sauce. If your doing slices don't bother with choosing your own toppings. They pre-make the cheese, pep and maybe one other pie so if you don't fall into those choices, they just slap the toppings on a cheese slice and heat it up in the oven. Salads are pretty good as well. Pros: pizza, salads, prices Cons: , crowded more

We keep going back... 6/22/2004

To those of you who may doubt NY style pizza here in RTP...you MUST try Randy's!!! It is by far, the closest thing to NY style pizza around! The pizza is delicious, as are the sandwiches and appetizers. And who can forget the employees!? They are friendly and enthusiastic and make the whole experience more enjoyable! Let's just say, it feels like home...and we HAVE to go there at least twice/week. more

Finally- Good NY Style Pizza! 6/17/2004

After relocating from NY to the Carolina's one thing I missed was good NY Pizza. Randy's Pizza is the closest thing to NY pizza without having to travel 10 hours!!! The place is mob scene at lunch, but well worth it. The pizza is delicious and the price is right. Pros: Great tasting, friendly service, reasonably priced more
