I was taken to Toomer's for the first time during Camp War Eagle (freshmen orientation.) Toomer's is, at the same time, a drug store, a deli, a soda fountain and memorabilia store. In addition, it's an Auburn landmark complete with a timeline of the most memorable events in Auburn's history. The most well known item at Toomer's is the lemonade, and it is good. My favorite thing to get is a milkshake. They also have lunch items like chicken salad and egg salad, both of which are wonderful. more

Toomer Drugs - An Auburn Landmark 4/13/2006

Get a glass of lemonade. This store has been a part of Auburn for nearly a century. Though the owners have changed several times through the years one thing has remained constant. The lemonade. It is one of those things where when you visit a town you have to see it or try it. New York has the Statue of Liberty, Allen Park, Michigan has the Worlds Largest Tire, and Auburn has Toomer’s Lemonade. So make sure you plan to stop in when you visit. Parking can be tricky, but check out the parking deck behind the block. Also, please take the 100 yard walk and view Samford Hall while enjoying your beverage. You then can really get an idea of Auburn's beauty. more

Old Tyme Drug Store 7/20/2005

This store has a little bit of everything, and it's one of the classic establishments in town. The interior looks like it's from the 50s, which makes it very unique. It's a good size, it's clean, and there are friendly employees. Prices are moderate; some souvenirs can be found cheaper elsewhere, but the variety is excellent. Parking is a challenge on College and Magnolia Streets, so bring quarters and patience. If you're on foot, Toomer Drug is an easy walk from campus. more
