I go here anytime I need anything for my tank. They always have everything I am looking for with prices that beat just about anybody. The staff is also very friendly and helpfull.

I was so excited when I walked in...a great location and huge selection! Then.....I started walking the place and as I tried looking at their stuff I had to endure the employees....

I was so excited when I walked in...a great location and huge selection! Then.....I started walking the place and as I tried looking at their stuff I had to endure the employees...all three young teenage boys wiping down tanks and talking of their nights out. Also had to listen to the F*** word dropped by the ""boys"" a few times as they discussed their female encounters during the nights out. But, once I did decide I traveled too far to leave with nothing and bothered one of them for help they were super helpful....but still as he was helping me another employee still kept talking about some B**** he met at a club. WHATEVER...I got what I wanted and just know now to NEVER go back with the kids. What a shame too cause other than the people that work there its a cool place, and I would go more if not for them.... more

buyer beware!!: check prices somewhere else before ordering stuff here!! 2/13/2011

as what most people said, the service is horrible. Before i shop here, i read the review from other customers (most of them said the service is terrible). however, i took a chance and came here to order a whole set of tank/stand/tank. first the price they told you sounds reasonable but once you decide to order, you realize that if you pay that price, you only get an average quality of everything and they gave you the option to upgrade or add other things to make it look better and you endup pay a much higher price than you though!!!t. yet,tos excited to have a new aquarium system, i made a deposit and order. a week later i found out i could get a much cheaper price at another tong's shop (but owned by another family member), i called and asked them if they can do the price match. i told them it would be nice if they can match the price, make customer happy so customer can come back for more business in the future, or else this would be the last time i do business with them. Not caring more

Unhealthy Fish, Over Priced 12/13/2010

Half of their fish are lethargic, while the other half are already dead. Customer service is horrible, fish are overpriced. Pets Mart has healthier livestock..lol more

The BEST store around 7/16/2010

I can't believe these other reviews are for the same store. I am VERY impressed with Tong's. The staff has always been courteous and knowledgeable. The tanks and water clean, and many time I've been given a discount off prices without even asking! I've had fish I've purchased from other stores die within a week or so, but every one I've bought at Tong's is still alive and happy. Also I bought some live rock at another store that turned out to be infested with Aiptasia, but never had any problems with Tong's rock. They have won me over as a customer for life! more

Service was terrible 7/2/2010

I have purchased fish from here only once. The reason I wont buy fish from here is the quality. The fish look stressed, and the water quality was filthy. I got the fish home and the next day my tank was loaded with snails. Never had a single snail before, after a ton. Prices are ok, but why pay money to a place where the staff wont even help. Rude and disinterested people work here. Pros: Big store Cons: Staff, water quality more

Tong's Tropical Fish owner has a personality not fitted to run a business. 12/15/2009

I have purchased a complete 200 gallon set up and this is the only time the owner Tong has spoken to me. He otherwise wouldnt even say HI. I will bring my business elsewhere where they appreciate my business. The fish are also not in the greatest condition as you can see many dead fish in the tanks. more

tongs is great, never had a problem here. the staff is great, not the quickest to my side but they definetly look like they keep themselves busy, so i dont really complain about that. as soon as i ask for help they are there to do whatever. Pros: selection more

My Favorite store! 2/26/2009

I was wondering why would anyone gave them neg. reviews? In my opinion, this is one of the best tropical fish store in southern California. The store is really well stocked and the price is reasonable. The customer service is overall good. The employees are friendly, honest, and very helpful. Every time there's problem with my tank or filter, they always been very helpful to me even if i didn't spend the money. I bought a light fixture from them and had it go bad 3 months later, they just exchanged it for a new one at no charge. more

good price, nice selection 11/19/2008

i went to tongs today (my first time there), and i was amazed by how much stuff they have. It was worth the visit. If you live in orange county, you need to visit this store. the store is well stocked. i was able to get everything i need in one visit. so many fish and coral as well as supplies. the prices are comparable with other stores (actually on the cheaper side of fish). overall experience is excellent. definitly will go back again. more

Pulled a switch on me 11/9/2008

I wonder why someone would use unethical business practices to pass along a dead plant they don't want to take a hit on to a customer who would otherwise come back and spend hundreds of dollars. I guess that is what they do in the East and since this business is owned by people of the East they haven't left these deceptive practices in the East. Although they have good stock, I only found one staff member who seemed friendly, the others were as cold as the fish in a freezer. I requested some java grass which I found once home to be all broken down and decaying. Good job losing hundreds to get the 6 bucks out of me. Not cool! more

Hey Johndoreme, I experienced the. Have you been to Jeff's Exotic in Orange yet? They are my favorite store by far. Whenever i go there they treat my like family. Prices and selection are very compatative, too. Pros: Tons of parking Cons: I was there for 30min, and not a single person asked if I needed help more

Poor customer service, good prices 2/10/2008

Where does the owner get the help? If the selection of merchandise is shoddy, Tongs would be the last place I would buy fish. Fortunately, they sell them for reasonable prices, even though some of the fishes look sickly while some tanks look murky at times. Money is really not an issue with me. If I could find a similar store around O.C. but with a much better service, I would be more than willing to pay the extra dollars. Actually, the service there wasn't always this bad, but that was seven years ago. What's new in the retail world nowadays?! Everywhere you go, you get horrible sales people on a bad luck day. my 2 cents 11/10/2007

My understanding on copper additives to fish water is to help control disease. with regards to the "could be disease" how is one to know what is wrong with your fish by description. Do you call a Dr. for a diagnosis? i agree tongs can be pricey on some items but they are reasonable on others, just shop around. you will be hard pressed to find a local fish store with this much inventory and reasonable pricing. more

Unhelpful staff, lethargic fish, overpriced stock 11/6/2007

I'm surprised the previous reviewer was happy with their visit as I was pretty much left unsatisfied. Though the store is large and has plenty of inventory, the prices are definitely higher than other stores in the area. Additionally, they have a couple staff members that will help you buy your fish but no one will really answer higher level questions. The store owner seems completely detached and leaves things to his underlings who are quick to answer any question with "could be disease". \r \r Also, I have heard from 1) other customers and 2) other fish stores and 3) on forums that Tongs adds chemicals to their water to make their fish more relaxed, copper I believe it was (might be something else). Take note of this. more

Amazing store 10/4/2007

Great selection of a variety of fish.The employees are well informed and very nice, Tanks are almost wholesale price, very cheap, they will also help you load it into your car if needed. Great selection on fish food, also at a low price. \r \r One thing that stood out was that they had employees walking around looking to see if there fish where happy and asking customers if they needed help as well as answering there questions. more

Recommended, BUT... 10/11/2005

Customer service is great depending on the specific, sales representative. Read the expiration date on items because they will not tell you, until it's too late. Call ahead for product availability. The store has a factory feel to it. Fish is what you want, this is the place, but CAREFULLY check the condition of each fish...
