Simply the best. 12/28/2011

Yum. Fresh fish, varieties we don't usually see, and prices are fair. ...super quality. Prices are on par with quality seafood at other stores, but Tom's is so much fresher. Tom will scale the fish, tell you how to cook it if you are unfamiliar with his Hawaiian specialties and special order for you. If you ask a grocery store clerk (even Whole Foods) to do this for you, well, the results can be downright humorous, until you realize they are bruising the flesh. Buy from Tom. Tom knows his fish! and clams and oysters. more

Best, most fresh seafood in Colorado 7/15/2010

Have been going to Tom's for years now. Have tried other seafood stores, but none have the variety, quality or good pricing that he has. He's always giving great tips on how to prepare the food, and always has a smile for you. Pros: Clean, friendly, great service, best tasting seafood more

Exceptional Service 5/1/2009

I was hunting monkfish. I called and Tom told me that even though he didnt have it in stock, he would make sure and get it for me for the next day. He called me back within 15 minutes to confirm that he will have the fish for me in the morning. Outstanding! Pros: Extremely helpful and freindly more

Great Seafood in Denver !!! 7/6/2008

I've been looking for real fresh seafood in Denver for a long time and yesterday I found Tom's. I picked up a pound of large shrimp from Tom yesterday and it was probably the best shrimp I've ever had in the Denver area in the 30+ years I've lived here. Happy I found Tom's. Excellent fresh seafood at reasonable prices. If you love real fresh seafood the way it's supposed to be then I highly recommend Tom's Seafood and Specialties. Enjoy!! more

The BEST Retail Seafood in the Denver Metro Area 7/13/2007

I found Tom's when hunting for live lobsters for a Birthday celebration and a Safeway Seafood clerk sent me over. I have now been going to Tom's for several years and have NEVER been disappointed. I live near downtown and happily make the drive whenever I want something special. His prices are reasonable for the quality. I won't even bother with Whole Food's seafood anymore - often times it looks great but too often disappoints. I buy fish from Tom's that I use for sushi, sashimi, crudo and very lightly marinated Ceviche and have always been absolutely thrilled!! His filets are cut beautifully and I never get stringy connective tissue bits in the tuna or salmon. Everything always smells fresh and tastes delicious! Whenever I am having a party or other special occasion I call Tom, tell him what I'm looking for and let him help me figure out what to order. He is a genius about figuring out portions. He is happy to make suggestions about preparing the fish and often has beautiful cuts of beef available for a quick surf and turf. Tom's may be one of the last places left in the Metro area that can provide things like salt cod and lutefisk. If you want something special I recommend you call ahead and order in advance. His oysters are SO GOOD that they knocked the socks off a friend from the East Coast visiting last Spring. I am always proud to serve the fish I get from Tom's. Pros: Service, no charge for special orders, knowledgable staff Cons: It is pricey - but it's FRESH seafood! more

What Whole Foods Wishes it Could Do (but can't be bothered). 2/2/2007

\r I have passed a fish market on west Alameda everday, finally stopped in yesterday and was happily suprised. This guy calls the boat captains in Hawaii every night to find out what they caught during the day, then orders his cuts sent via air to arrive here on ice in the morning. I had forgotten how good real fresh fish is! (I admit I got used to ""re-freshed"" aka ""previously frozen"" seafood at Whole Foods). (And we can't even mention King Soopers and seafood in the same sentence, can we?)\r \r Across Alameda Parkway from the Vitamin Cottage. The guy's name is, get this, Tom. He took a beating from the snowstorms, and lost some customers to the new Whole Foods in BelMar, so please try to stop by sometime to support his business. BTW cash and checks only, no credit cards, ATM nearby.\r \r Beautiful FRESH fish, clams, oysters, mussels. Wow. more
