You Saved Her Life 5/9/2012

I've been wanting to write a review for a while, but never got around to it. This review is also about Jude. I was around when Jude was pregnant. I also was dissatisfied with the previous vet, but when we found you, it was a Godsend. You took the time out, and actually cared. It was a very frightening experience when Jude was about to give birth, and things didn't seem normal. You were on the phone with us and explaining everything to us. What to expect, what to look for and how long to wait. I was grateful for all that you did. If we didn't get the right direction, she probably would have died. I was a first time parent, I had no idea what the birth of puppies would entail. Even when we had to bring Jude in because she seemed like she might be in danger, you took the time out to explain everything to us. The happiest moment of my life is when you brought out the first puppy, CC (Close Call). I know he almost died, he didn't want to come out naturally and it took 3 doctors to get him out. That's when we got the news about Jude having to get a C-section, it was a scary thought, but that was the only way that she and the puppies would survive. You kept us in the loop about everything that was going on. You even let us see the puppies after they were born. Jude recovered beautifully. Thank you so much for your care and attention to Jude. If not for you, she probably wouldn't have made it. If not for you, we probably wouldn't have known the right thing to do at the time. You are lifesavers. Thank you for all that you've done. Caring & Compassionate 4/25/2012

Christiane from Toms River, NJ \r Pet: Jude \r This was my first visit with TRAH. I had always seen another Vet for my two dogs. My Jude was pregnant and I wasn't satisfied with my last visit for Jude with the vet that I had been seeing since Jude was 8 weeks old. I had made appt. with TRAH in advance for my boy Jack and Jude both. Little did I know I would be making an appt for Jude sooner than I had anticipated. First, I would like to say that even speaking on the phone making the appts for my angels... they were so patient with me explaining that Jude was pregnant and Jack was in need for his yearly shots. This was 2 days prior to having to making the call that my Jude was displaying signs of giving birth, but I was concerned it was too early for Jude to have them. They had the appt. ready for me to bring her in ... 45 mins from the time of my call. When I got there... and I was late mind you... They got Jude in the back and Dr. Reimer sat with me trying to figure out the correct date more

Flees! 9/30/2011

I brought my 8 year old dog there to board for 7 days while we were away. My dog does not go outside regularly and is a total inside dog.. He can not use the flee medication because he is extremly allergic to it. Guess what he came home with! I call them and they said the best they could do was start him on a pill for flee provention.. oh and how kind they paid for the first month. But thats nothing compaired to the money I had to put out to board him there, the exam before hand, and now all the stuff to get rid of the flee not only on the dog but also to make sure that there arent any in my house! I sent my dog there so he would be taken care of not so I would have to go through this! Never again.. more

Huge Expense 8/25/2010

I am pregnant with my first child and my in-laws who live in Whiting have temporarily taken my cats to help us out. My cat became sick and my husband and I went down to Whiting to bring him to the vet. We went to Tom's River Animal Hospital and $170.00 later were told he probably had a UTI and we were given medicine. After a couple days of monitoring him we realized he was not getting any better. We were concerned since he had one prior incident with urinary crystals that caused a blockage. We took him back to the animal hospital and we were given an estimate of roughly $2,000.00 for a catheterization and two day hospital visit. I expressed concern that it was a very high estimate since we had already gone through this and my doctor up in Northern Jersey had charged us $1,200.00 for the same thing plus that was a four day hospital visit. I was told that they could not match the price but could eliminate certain procedures that were not as necessary. So in essence they would eliminate s more

Animal Lover 7/24/2010

Many animal hospitals are expensive. VcA in toms river is an excellent and thourough place to bring your pet. They specialize in exotics and have taken very good care and health of my pets. It is a francise and they have high prices but thats all part of taking good care of your pets. I have seen and been through worse medical bills for our pets and VCA is my vet facility of choice. more

Toms River Animal Hospital is the best. 7/25/2009

My dog recently had a thorough exam and teeth cleaning. Dr. Levine and the staff took great care of my baby, and were very kind to both of us. Dr. Levine even personally called me at home to see how Phoebe was doing after the teeth cleaning. You couldn't ask for finer care for your animal. more

Worse Place To Bring A Pet 7/13/2009

I had 2 appt. for my dog. First one she had a thorough exam and lab tests, and was told she had athritis. She was put on Rimadyl. Second appt. was less than a week later for a lump on her chest the Dr. failed to see or feel. I was told she needed more labs and xrays would cost me $600-800. I get her bill for the visit and was charged for an exam when she just had one less than a week ago. Pros: none Cons: everything more

Ugh 5/2/2009

This place is 2 seconds away from charging for parking. The prices are outrageous. Not worth it. Whoever is in charge, cares more about money than my pets health. Your pet could be dying but if you don't have the money they send you on your way. more

Pre-op testing 12/16/2008

Yes, I will agree that pre-op testing is your safest route to ensure the safest possible outcome, however in the past ten years veterinary costs have sky rocketed. Insurance is available for your pet but the average income in this region of NJ does not indicate affordability. A common dilemma that faces many responsible pet owners. Veterinarian costs could be lowered, but lately I have seen a shift from Vets who truly want to take care of the animals? best interest to Vets that are in it for a profit. Ethics anyone?? It?s ultimately the animals? health at jeopardy here. The amount of money being charged for simple surgical procedures such as spay or neuter that literally takes on average 15 minuets for a Vet to perform is ridiculous. When did greed come into Pet health care? And people wonder why pet adoption is low. more

Very Pleased! 6/6/2008

I was very happy with the service and attention provided by this hospital. My pooch and I saw Dr. Bell to get his shots to be boarded. As I was between homes, Dr. Bell even suggested some pet friendly apartments for me to be able to keep my dog. This has stuck with me, as has the friendliness of the staff. Though the prices are higher than I would have liked, I enjoyed the caring atmosphere. more

These vets are the best 4/21/2008

These Vets are the best around... I have been to alot of different offices since we have had to move alot...but this group is very professional and always have the animals best interest in mind....\r Kelly - If there was a problem with the spay, I'd ask if you had the pre-op testing done? alot of people don't do it because it is an additional expense, but so important. Hope everything works out well.\r -Diane more

SPAY 4/19/2008

I took my dog to this vet for a spay and she almost died. They were certain that she had a blood clotting disorder and failed to notice that she had an infection. I would not recommend this vet. more

Good for Exotic Animals 6/27/2006

We have used this vet for out iguana. He was very sick and they were able to see him quickly. The exotic animals vet at this hospital was very good with him. She was very knowledgeable and was able to diagnose him and told us what we were doing wrong with his care. They saved his life. He is now 10 and 5 feet long. more
