Real Southern Cookin' 1/5/2010

A coworker of mine went to school in Atlanta and on his birthday I took him to Tom's. He has eaten in all the suburban places that claim ""home cookin'"" or ""Southern cookin'"" and been sadly disappointed. This place blessed his soul! He remarked that he and friends used to eat a a ""meat and three"" place all the time on such and such highway. One of the owners remarked, ""That's my mom's place."" There you go, it's in the family! Meatloaf, Collard Greens, Mac-N-Cheese and Sweet Potato Pie for dessert YESSIRREE! Pros: Always friendly, always delicious Cons: Weekday lunch only, no nights or weekends more

Shoo wee this is good home cookin' 12/12/2008

Best green beans on the planet!!!! Everything I've tried here is delicious. Great sweet tea! If you're in the mood for some southern, home cooked food this should be your only stop in the D. Pros: Awesome food and friendly folks for a great price! Cons: The hours. They're only open M-F 11a.m. - till the food is gone...... or 2 pm. more

Best Vaule, Best Food, Reminds me of Home 2/27/2008

WOW is a good way to start this review. The ever changing menu keeps things fresh and you just cant get food like this many places here. It reminds me of home, which is Georgia. If you have never been, you should check it out. Just make sure and get there before closing. Pros: Just the best comfort in TOWN! more

nice staff 12/14/2007

tom's home-cooking is a place where you go to eat the food that we don't have the time to prepare.( they start working at 5 AM) their BBQ ribs are the best. the offer healthy alternatives too. ""Tom's iced tea"" rivals the best. Come in early to get a seat and enjoy the succulent foods. the staff will bend-over-backwards to make you enjoy your dinning experience. more

Experience the YUMMY DELICIOUSNESS! 9/26/2007

My coworkers and I went to Tom's today. We got there at exactly 11am. There was no line, and only one person in the restaraunt. Most plates are $8.75, and include a drink. Catfish is a little extra. The menu changes everyday, but today, I had the chicken fried steak with yams and greens. One coworker had the fried chicken, brocoli cheese casserole, and greens, and the other had chicken and dumplings, mac and cheese, and cabbage. ALL of the food was fresh, hot, and most delicious. The sitting area is not very large, so if you're going with more than 2 people, get there when they OPEN! Pros: food is great.. good portions for under $9/plate Cons: If you don't get there at exactly 11am, you WILL be standing in line. CASH ONLY. more

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Tom's! Pros: Yummy Comfort food at a low price Cons: There isn't really any where to sit more

Better off going to a Boston Market. 9/16/2006

Blandest food I've been served anywhere in the Denver area. Styrofoam clamshells (even for eating in!) make the dining experience even less appetising. If you liked your grade school cafeteria food, you'll love this place. Atmosphere is clean and nice for the area, but with all the soul kitchens in this neighbourhood, tastier food is not far away. Pros: comfortable atmosphere Cons: uncomfortable food. more

Gourmet Food at Budget Prices! 5/1/2006

Recently I ate at Tom's a couple of times and tried their catfish and meatloaf. Both were delicious! You should really try the catfish with its crispy coating!! I also loved the mashed potatoes and gravy, macaroni and cheese, peach cobbler (a vegetable at Tom's), and especially the corn bread. All were full of flavor. The portions were large: eat your lunch now and take the rest home for later. There is a reason that so many people flock to Tom's for lunch. Pros: Delicious food!, Large servings, Great variety Cons: No sit down ordering more

Going Downhill Yet Prices Have Gone Up! 3/24/2006

I visited recently, and found some food items to be lower in quality and certain portions much smaller than in the past. I purchased a carrot cake dessert, and it was HALF the size it was a few months ago. Mashed 'taters were watered down, and the ""roast turkey"" was sliced from one of those gunky ""pressed turkey"" rolls. My beloved corn bread was also HALF the size it used to be. Barbeque Pork and Beef were very FATTY. Plus, lunch now costs $8.50???? Not good. more

The worst soul food ever! 2/15/2005

Toms had the worst soul food I've ever tasted. I don't usually participate in these surveys, but when I saw Tom's listed, I felt it was my duty to let the truth be known to unsuspecting customers. Cons: Bad Food, Bad Food, Bad Food more

Top Notch 1/22/2004

The food here is unbelievable. I have never had a bad meal. The people behind the counter are always in a good mood and very thankfull for your business. Only $7.20 gets your tummy full for the rest of the day. The menu changes daily and I would recommend getting there early. The crowds come around 11:30am and bring your CASH because thats all they take. Pros: food, inexpensive, service Cons: crowded around 12:00 more

Mmmm...food that makes you feel 7/23/2003

Tom's serves some of the best southern comfort food around. Its the type of food that leaves you with a full belly, nice food buzz and liable to put you in a very satisfied food coma for the rest of the afternoon. I love calling their number to get the daily update on their ever changing menu. The guys who cook and serve up the food always end the lunch order by asking ""and what kind of bread would you like?"" I highly highly recommend the following entrees (call ahead to see if these are available): -chicken and bisuits in gravy (my favorite) -country style BBQ pork ribs -chicken smothered in herb gravy -fresh roasted, carved turkey -meat loaf (always on the menu) -fried chicken (always on the menu) also, their creamed corn and northern white beans are really good sides. more

Tom's Got it Going 8/10/2002
