The fish is very fresh and well above average, the skills of my favorite chef ""KIn"" are hard to beat...very large portions and no BS service. Try the Tuna dynamite hand roll, there is nothing better. The Poke Bowl, soft shell Crab and baked Scallop hand roll are a must.\r \r The place could use a little more attention, the restrooms are suspect and overall could use a paint job and some maintenance, but , I love this place.\r \r Pros: Best Sushi in Orange County Cons: Restrooms and Restaurant needs a good cleaning. more

Buffet sushi 1/21/2009

I had heard Tommy's sushi was good, ( even though Tommy is not a sushi type name for a ""good sushi place"") even so, my boyfriend and I decided to give it a try.\r I was SO disappointed! It was not even good. The fish was not fresh at all! It was the kind of sushi you would get at a buffet.\r I always go to Ango Tei in Costa Mesa so I was excited to try something new, boy was it upset. I left there still hungry. I was not going to waste anymore money on gross OLD sushi. What a waste of money! \r Not only was the food bad, but the booths were all sticky and you had springs sticking you in the butt. \r I will never go there ever again and I will tell everyone I know how bad is was. \r \r I question the people writing these good reviews for this place. They have no idea want good sushi is! I feel sorry for people who think Tommy's is a good sushi place! YUCK! more

amazing sushi! fun place! 4/12/2008

awesome sushi! i dream about the sushi all the time! sushi chefs are super friendly, a bit perverted, but its all in good fun! if you're a serious tight-wit who can't take a joke, then don't come here! this place is fun for relaxing at the sushi bar, eating some fantastic sushi, and downing it with some nice cold sake! love love love the salmon sashimi and tataki! fresh fish, wonderful service, busy place! great place to go with your buddies to unwind after a long day of work! Pros: service, sushi, ambience Cons: busy more

Old, reliable Tustin landmark 10/26/2006

Tommy's has been a staple for sushi in the city of Tustin for almost 3 decades. Albeit, the carpet and booths are shabby, but it has that dark ambiance (to be read as cozy) that makes one feel at home.\r \r Sevice is pretty good. Three chefs work the sushi bar (on busy nights they'll have four). \r \r The food is great. I highly recommend the amaebi, fried calamari and uni. Pros: It's been around for almost 30 years, so you know what you're getting. Cons: Don't go on payday (it's too crowded). more
