Diners Delite!! 10/29/2009

I have been in Tommy's many times.\r \r To address some other reviews, the food quality has not fallen of, the noise is part of the attraction and if you feel that the diner has lost something, I'm sorry!\r \r Perhaps your appreciation of Tommy's is not what it should be!! Pros: Food, Flavors, Ambience Cons: Can't Think Of Any more

A true diner 12/13/2008

Tommy's is the place to be if you are looking for a true diner. I like hotel breakfast spots, normal restaurants like Bob Evans, even Cap City Diner which tries to bring back the diner feel in a way, but if you want an authentic diner where the people are just as good as the simple food Tommy's it is.\r \r It's old-fashioned, it's fun and I always leave happy that I made the decision to go. The waitresses are some of the best and nicest, the food is great - all comfort food all done perfectly.\r \r So, if you like the way diners used to be, and you dont want to be handed a buzzer to be seated and rushed out the door and you're looking for good breakfast and lunch food wtih friends or family - go to Tommy's.\r \r Get the panckaes or the greek omelette. Pros: Great old-fashioned feel, great service, the people staff and food are all equal. Cons: not the nicest neighborhood, BUT dont let that bother you for a second. more

What happen? 10/28/2008

I have been eating off and on at this diner for over 20 years. It has went from really good food at a good price to just SAD! Tommy's has falled victim to ""Celebrity"", they have lost focus on the quality of food they produce. The diner it's self really is just to LOUD. People need to remember their inside voice just like they are always preaching to their children to do. Tommy it is great to be friendly but the food matters as well. Pros: Phone in orders available Cons: Quality of food poor. more

breakfast 2/16/2008

A great breakfast spot. When my favorites there is a corned beef hash, with two poached eggs on top doesn?t get any better than that, unless you have the pancakes more

Great place, great food! 1/26/2008

I eat here every Sunday... EVERY Sunday. I moved to Columbus in June 07 and have been eating Brunch there every Sunday since. You can't beat the food, prices and atmosphere!! more

Greasy spoon diner 5/3/2007

If your looking for good sized home cookin. Tommy's is one of the places to go to. Pricing is good for the potions you get. their best is the breakfast menu. more

be prepared to wait 4/27/2007

The best thing about Tommy's is the atmosphere and mix of people from all classes and walks of life. \r The worst thing is you often have to wait and wait and wait. I suppose in that way Tommy's is a victim of its success. \r I've been there ten times or so and whie the staff is friendly and service good, the food is mixed. I have yet to be served something great or completely inedible, except perhaps from fried catfish that was more of a mystery meat. \r Expect glitzy 50s decor and hope for average entrees. Pros: service, ambience Cons: food more

Great service, good consistant food, fantastic service 12/6/2006

From the time you pull in to the parking lot (just expanded), to the time you leave you will feel at home. Greetings by the wonderfull staff, owner, owners son, or brother in law when you walk in lets you know you are appreciated and welcome. Service is prompt and no special request is too small. Food is always warm and consitant at every visit. The Diner is full of life and if your not careful you might make a new friend or two. If you are in the mood for a quiet breakfast for lunch, take one in a brown bag and go to library and eat. This is a ""Diner"" people! It is a live and vibrant atmosphere! If you want poor service go to Dan's Drive Inn, and If you want funny tasting burgers go to Rallys. Come and enjoy what locals already know is a great diner! Also a great place to get Breakfast before the Ohio State games, and be prepared to give a big ""O"" ""H"" ""I"" ""O"". Pros: Service, Parking, Ambience, At home feeling, Now smoke free! Cons: Sitting by the door on cold mornings more

Yup, over-rated. 10/25/2005

I have to agree with the previous reviewer - the food at Tommy's Diner really isn't anything spectacular at all. My gyro & feta omelet was tasty, but the side of bacon was cold, and as tough as old boots. Husband's big breakfast was fine but no better than that at Chef's House (Hilliard) where we usually go for Sunday breakfast. Very good coffee though. The booths are fine for 2 people, but large groups are going to have problems. And it is INCREDIBLY noisy. The service was perfunctory, and nothing more. I'm glad we checked it out, but I can't see us going back. Oh, and how anyone could consider this place 'romantic' is beyond me... Pros: Fun, I guess, Good value Cons: Noisy, Parking, Service more

Over-rated! 8/6/2005

I just don't understand what the fuss is all about. The booths are cramped; the atmosphere is loud and the food isn't all that. I have been to Tommy's three times. Undercooked hashbrowns for breakfast. Funny tasting cheeseburgers. I've had better meals at McDonalds. Pros: Cheap, Clean, Westside Cons: Cramped, Service, Westside more

Out of this world 7/9/2004

Flashback from the past! Owner works himself crazy just to make sure everyone has what they want, just the way they want and had a good time. Felt more like a visit to a relative's house (a relative you'd want to visit anyway)! Nostalgic decor, 50's style! Huge portions! Not a good neighborhood though, get out before dark, avoid ladies hitchhiking and don't take the Mercedes. Pros: Inexpensive, Huge Portions, Excellent Service Cons: , Crowded at peak hrs more

Tommy' is great! 8/13/2003

Family owned business where the owner is on site and takes the time to get to know his customers by name. Infamous for a ""regulars"" kind of crowd. I couldn't believe this establishment has only raised his prices once in the 10 years I have ate there. It was about time. Call for the daily specials. Great deals there! It has this charming Elvis/James Dean 50's type of decor including a 50's style cash register. I hope he hasn't upgraded. Pros: Inexpensive, Friendly, Great variety of food Cons: Location, Crowded (Duh!), No dinner hours (Darn more

WOW! What a Lunch! 10/3/2002

I was taken back to a time when food was prepared with love and happiness. My mother would have loved this place if she were alive today. Lunch was so good it was like coming home from school as a kid and eating with Mom. Pros: Friendly, Great Food more

Tommy's Dinner is Finer! 7/24/2002

Recent visit and my first! Tommys was a nice surprise great service from the point of entering to the time I stepped out the door. Fast very friendly service as well as Hot quality eats! Theme of this location is fantastic and a great place to impress a date or friends. A return visit is on my list. Prices fair and actually low for quality of my dinner. A Must Visit for a good time. Pros: Service, Theme, Value Cons: Parking, Lines more
